crappiefisher On way home from 7 day stay in hospital just had to take a look off Mahood Rd. noticed one female with two males. crappy
I was fishing where you, me, and Giggles McGee used to crappie fish and the beaver hut is gone.I guess they all got trapped out. What a shame. It helped the fishing.
Rippin, If you were where I think you were, did you see someone wading about 100 yards away? If so, that was me. There is another beaver dam down there. Not in the deeper water like the other one was, so not the attractor that one was.

Pork there was a guy that came downand fished to the left ofmewith a flea pole. There were two guys in a 12 foot boat callig it quits when I first got there. I'll PM you where we were. The guys in the boat got skunked and so did we. The water needs to warm a tad I think.

J - The extended forecast has been teasing for the past month. Then pull the carpet type effect, throwing days like today, tomorrow and the weekend in on us! I hope it holds up. Regardless, I will take half of the days being warm, rather than 1 out of 20 or so.

Soon.....the future forecast is looking good for next week. Now we have to wait till they put the docks in.I wonder if there is a launch where I can get my pontoon boat launched from without a dock in.

This was a good read. Thanks. I'm hoping to get on the water soon. With the new decking I put on the boat last summer, I'm super motivated to get on the water this spring. Arthur is probably going to the first place I hit.

Was hoping to get a launch permit for canoe today but 3 more days in hospital (out today) and 2 weeks with visiting nurse puts another delay in the way. Last year around this time went with my son for a day and kept enough Perch for the year. Nice to just clean fish once or twice a year and have enough. Gonna try and sneak out tomorrow or next day and get permit from park office... crappy

Those fish get dogged from ice out until fall. Nothing is going to change that. Find a new game. Invest in some equipment and head north. Even the most novice angler can bring home a limit of walleyes from Erie. Jus say'IN. Moraine is 15 minutes from my house and I won't go there until the hoards are gone come late November. It's a shame but it is what it is....

It was pretty clear how and what i was doing. seen a huge musky floating kind of bummed me out. to much rot to tell what killed it, for the size maybe old age? would have been a wall hanger ( well pics to have one made and released

I'm going to try to get up there at least once next month, if I catch a fish I'll be happy. It's a great place to do sanity checks on your equipment before the season starts.

99% sure I saw you bighead, based on what you were catching. I was wading a couple hundred yards away. Watched you for a good long while and knew based on fishing off of my buddy's boat a few times what you were doing and thinking you were probably into them pretty good since you didn't move. Then I watched the clown show, and thought, "Boy, I bet that guy isn't happy." lol.

BIGHEAD_1 Just venting a bit
Completely understand. Unfortunately, the word of fishing/boating etiquette doesn't travel nearly as fast as good fishing reports do. If I am not the first to one of my 4-5 spots planned for that day, I try a different spot that others are not at. Sometimes all of those spots are taken, but enough room for more than a boat or two in many of the larger areas. I personally use the 2 cast distance as a reference when things get crowded. My longest cast should not hit that other person's longest cast. Most times, I try to stay 100 yards away from people though. Granted, some times you can't avoid that when motoring by and too many other boats out. Especially those kayaks and sailboats that don't seem to have full control and need to give them a much larger cushion. Then I may get a bit closer to anglers just to pass, I'll always slow down if the case. Or if pulling my boat into skinny water and having to use a channel to get me out. If I am back in an area, then guys show up and anchor in a channel or shore fish, sorry, but I need to be able to get out. I honestly do not mind courteous anglers that know what they are doing, sharing a drift or get a little close when passing. Some areas I fish are 50 yard or so drifts, motor back up and do again. I don't mind if someone joins my conga line, if they are courteous about it. Honestly, I enjoy it if all are catching and sharing reports, etc. Ideally, this wouldn't happen, but not like Arthur is a remote Canadian lake... I do get annoyed when someone goes and drops anchor half way through where I have been drifting for the past hour and they clearly see that when motoring to where I am. I also do not mind when guys are working a shoreline with their trolling motor, I am anchored on a school and they get a bit close to me to pass by. I don't expect them to drop their gas motor to go 100 yards around me. It is not acceptable for them to cast into the area that I am fishing when they go by, which I have had knuckledraggers do before... Most times they go by without casting, usually share fishing reports and a nice thing. Certain times of the year are far worse than others. Summer weekends are just stupid with kayaks and sailboats, pretty much expect idiots. The fishing is not good enough IMO to even deal with that. Night time hybrids has gotten to be about as stupid and pretty much just hope for the 2 cast distance thing, but do understand that is hard to judge at night. I try to stay away from the Christmas string of boat lights in many areas, but it has gotten so popular that it is hard to give 100 yard cushions. Spring can get a bit crowded too, so many people want to get out of their house and the fishing is typically pretty good. The fish are in certain areas and often where the boats are.

Did okay on some crappie yesterday. I had a window between my kids' games. Only had about 3 hours on the water and was prior to sun breaking through the clouds. Like usual, as soon as I had to leave, the conditions seemed to improve. Enough fish to make it enjoyable getting blown around, but not a banner day. I've got too much going on this week to burn a vacation day to enjoy this week's forecast. I'll be enjoying part of one with a rod in hand on a beach in NJ though. So, I'm not complaining! Looks like spring is here to stay?
