New State Record Flathead

Anyone see the new state record? Caught out of Blue Marsh lake, 48+ pounds. That sucks for the dude who caught the new record last fall. All those years and the record is popped twice in a matter of months.

12 lb. test/ lipless crank/ dude was looking for eyes. And fools like me put all that time in with heavy equipment and big bait looking for the biggun'.

Congrats to him. That had to be a blast reeling in on 12 lb. line.

Anyone have a guess as to where the next one will come from?

My guess is the Ohio.

Just looked and there is a pic on the Pa fish commission web site.  Looks huge and f'ugly.  I never would have thought the record would come from that part of the state.

A few years ago I was bass fishing with crawlers at a local flood control dam(Jacobs Creek Dam) and initially thought I had hooked onto a monster bass only to shortly find out it was a 27 pound flathead on 8# line. Had him weighed, photographed, then released him back into the same lake.

No kidding, meatball?   I hadn't heard.  There are bigger ones out here.  Maybe you just need to up the bait to 4-5lb carp.

Yup - Greenlick Resevoir or Jacobs Creek Lake at Jacobs Creek Park.

Maybe that bad boy still lives in there. If he does bet he weighs more that 27 pounds now.
