Presque Isle bay wade fishing

I was planning on wade fishing Presque Isle bay at the end of May for smallmouth and was wondering if the entire bay can be waded? Could someone let me know which areas that are able to be wade fished and which ones are not? Just looking for a good place to start. I’ve included a map for reference. Thanks in advance.

There a lot of places from the bay side on the peninsula...... you'll see a lot on people wading in May and June, small mouth, large mouth and rock bass ,blue gills will be the main targets....Guys will be wading soon at the head of the bay....as soon as you see water on your right, that's the place. There's a big cat tail island there. Steelhead, crappie, perch and gills are the main targets. The bay is extremely cold and behind fishing wise this spring...The jumbo perch really just starting coming in.  Last week they where far and few but managed 20 some and 3 steelhead. Fish Pymy yesterday and it was on fire.... Slab crappie, and nice perch. They wade at most parking lots.....you won't be alone.....lol

Go get the crappies right before they spawn by wading certain areas of the bay on the PI side.

Hey guys. I appreciate all the info but I messed up on my original post. It meant to say “smallmouth” and auto correct made it “small ones”. I appreciate the advice on crappie, perch, etc but was looking for info on smallmouth. Mainly, How far can you wade from the shore in PI? Can you just get in the water anywhere and just follow the shoreline wading? Sorry for the confusion.

Water has been high the last few years, limiting smallmouth wading on the main bay flats. You can still get into some, but a kayak would be a much better option. If you can't bring one, they're available for rent at Port Erie Sports, Lake Erie Outfitters or the livery in the lagoons.

Wading the head of the bay is wetbootz waiting to happen. Smallies will be on the sandflats by perry monument.
