It would be worth it just to watch Charlie Ingram get skunked at Glade run. He's going to lose his mind. It's like 4 foot deep.

yeah this should be a good show to watch , I wonder how much air brushing will go into that film. maybe we start giving high - low odds on the amount of fish caught

No fish.... no show.

I'd volunteer my boat but dang it, that happens to be the week I clean my Gold Fish Bowl.😞

I met Ingram a couple of times at the Stratos boat dealer meeting back when he was sponsored by them. Can’t say I’ve ever seen his show — I tend to not watch too many outdoor shows.

Having been on a few of these types of shows, there are a few things to remember — a 30 minute show, minus the commercials, is 22 minutes. Of that time, 3-4 minutes are opening and closing credits. This leaves 18-19 minutes of run time.

In that time, about 50% is “B”roll footage of casting, sponsor logos, running the boat, fish finder shots, etc. The amount of time spent can be adjusted based on the number of fish caught.

In essence, to cover the rest of the time, about 5-8 fish need to be caught. Since we allowed 2-4 days per location, that wasn’t too tall of an order to fill and it especially is not for people who fish for a living.

If you are able to participate, I would encourage you to do so, if for no other reason than to having the experience and see how the sausage is made.

These guys, for the most part, work hard, if not on the actual show, on the logistics and getting beat by the travel.

My point is usually you will see the host at a lake in Canadia or somewhere stuffed with fish.I remember watching a few of Charlie's shows back in the day he's pretty sharp. Maybe he'll be fishing for panfish.

So two fish and "it's a take"? 😋

😅 who am I foolin? Two fish for me and it's 6 weeks, braggin rights on FishUSA..... commercial free!!

I don't know (I'll deny I said 'that'😏) about today but I remember many moon ago being 'stage left' for a hunting program in Venango County.

The sponsor was local and responsible for providing all kinds of things like housing, for show host and crew as well as, "prescouted" (guaranteed) wild game.

If the hunting didn't go as expected, highly doubtful the program would be aired. In other words, a Jake would not be accepted for a Boss Tom.

My mission, should I choose to accept, was to scout (reveal my happy hunting grounds) to which I respectfully declined, as that would be in direct violation of age old family beliefs.

"No Spotburning" 😉

If this is the case for outdoor shows today, it would be intresting to know what this 22 minute program is going to cost the sponsor.

But the cool thing, if the show is successful, Pork, Zelie, and all the other Lake Arthur
family can watch as their little piece of Penn's Woods is "spotburned" on national tv.😲

P.S. annnd in that case, I just may watch.😝

I would guess they may not fish Glade Run, but perhaps show it off a little bit as an example of what can happen with some good old fashioned grass roots work that gets some politicians to actually work for the people that elected them.  Save Glade Run Lake is a wonderful local conservancy here in southeastern Butler County that made the dam repair happen.  Without them, this lake would have gone the way of Hereford Manor.  It's not a great lake and probably never will be, but it's PFBC owned and can certainly provide years of entertainment for casual fishermen and those who enjoy being on or along the water in other ways.

It's only been refilled since spring of 2017.  The PFBC has put troot in there for the past 3 trout openers.  They have stocked fingerling bass (maybe a few adults from other places that have been drained in that time if I recall correctly); a forage base (spot tail shiners and golden shiners I believe); channel cat yearlings; and some bluegills and crappies.  Other than the pellet munchers, all other fishing is still catch and release there.  It was interesting to see that they left all the brush and trees in there upon refilling it.  Makes for some tough trout fishing for most that like to chuck out power bait on the bottom, but definitely the right move to help those warm water species establish themselves in there.

And since this is the Arthur thread, I'll throw out there that my 9 year old and I can add a third Dead Sea report for this past Monday.  Got a few real small gills - just enough for cat bait - and had one good cat hit.

John after 6 years of fishing Arthur on a fairly regular basis, I’m beginning to think it may not be the fish that are stoopit.

I’ve been trying to figure out rhyme or reason why some days are pretty good there for us and other days, within a few days of a decent day under similar conditions, are so tough. Have a bud who absolutely swears by the sol-lunar tables for fishing and plans his trips accordingly. Definitely seems to be a correlation for us this summer with those tables.

Dave I would agree, there being something to the sol-lunar tables. At least for fur bearing animals anyhow. Easy enough to observe the furry critters as to when and where they might be, during a certain cycle.

Not so sure🤔 'bout them stupid fish though.

I still believe in the old IFS F+L+P. Taking water temperature, as the leading indicator at any given time of the year.

What we do know for sure is that 90% of the fish are caught in 10% of the water, and that the same 90% of the fish are caught by 10% of the fishermen. Those who got it all together understand well the nature of their quarry and where they will be at any given time pursuant to the weather, then they present those baits most suited to the quarry at those particular times, and they catch fish. That's all there is to the F+L+P theory. For all the articles i've read, for all the TV shows and DVDs I've watched, and for the all the fruitless hours I've spent on the water, I've come to the conclusion I may need a refresher course in F+L+P 101. (Smartazz Fish!)

Never try to argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

emitch if I understand you correctly, F+L+P 101 means stick to the basics or, if ain't broke don't fix it.

So in a nutshell... stupid is as stupid does😁

That also depends what other anglers show up that day.  When fishing with the 2-3 time per year fishermen, I am in usually in the 10%.  When Crappy's kid, Chauncy or other guys that can catch hammerhead sharks out of a toxic puddle, are on the water, then I am clearly in the 90%.  Everyone is in the 10% under certain conditions.

Having fished tournaments for 20 years (a long time ago), there were days that you swore there wasn’t a bass in the water being fished, yet someone (typically more than one) had not only a limit, but a big limit with a good average size and a hammer of an anchor fish and there were days that you were culling (where it was legal) all day long, expecting that everyone else was also loading the boat with them, when in reality, there were more empty bags than bags with fish, and few limits.

Tim,

He bought me a Sylvan 16' Pro Fisherman last month with auto pilot foot control, elec. anchor, elec. winch & a large Humminbird fish finder. He must think I'm getting weak & blind with all these gadgets  He is delivering it to me at camp tomorrow afternoon.

Gonna catch worms some night in the next few weeks & set sucker traps.

Spot burn for Arthur... the lake SUCKED on Sunday.  Surface temp started at 70 and ended 74ish.  Glass flat in the morning, bit of chop mid afternoon but not bad for Arthur.  The water is murky AF though.  Like brown/green soup murky.  But it isn't high, in fact I'd say it is borderline low.  Caught maybe a dozen dink perch, a couple largemouth that weren't much bigger than our minnows, and one 5 or 6lb cat that I hit in the face with a minnow.  In fact she was hooked in the cheek with a #4 trokar octopus.  Not sure how we got her to the boat actually.  Made several runs for the anchor and motor.  This was early afternoon and I was pretty sure we weren't going to hero up a load of big panfish so I threw her back.  Little bit of C&R helps build karma.

I figured the cooling temps might put at least the perch in feedbag mode, but that was not the case.  Should have stayed home to do some chorein' I guess.

I’m thinking about heading up there on Sunday. I’m hoping there won’t be many of folks on the water due to the Steelers afternoon game. Haven’t been there all year. Looking to get into some channel cats and bass.

Is it worth it? Should I hit the river or Wilhelm instead?

I'd personally look at a plan B if you are hearing anything better.  I struggled to avoid a skunk the last two times out.  Things should change with fall approaching, but most of the week in the 80s, isn't likely going to help.  Who knows though?  If you have a pattern that typically does well at this time of year, then you already have me beat.  I usually struggle in late summer, which is fine since work usually has me too busy to get out.  There could be about an hour window at dusk that things could turn on, or at least give a good show.  They move fast, so sort of need to be lucky.
