Don't think it's the train bridge this time around Dave but I'll bet there's a bunch of drivers of high profile vehicles wishin a certain choo choo overpass would go bye bye. Lol

Fished Pymie all weekend. Catfish and dink perch, and one white bass. Not very many boats out. Fished Linesville/Espyville areas.

If you want to catch catfish...you're gonna catch catfish. If you wanna catch walleye...you're gonna catch catfish. Total catfishfest the last 2 weeks for my group. We caught roughly 1.5 to 2 dozen cats each...each of the last 2 Saturdays, there are 3 of us, while catching 4 walleye total. I don't remember this happening this early in previous years. We did see an amish kid trolling the stumps catch what looked to be every bit of a 28 inch walleye this past Saturday.

Fresh Pymy catfish are good eating, maybe not quite as good as walleye but plenty good enough for me. Coming up for 9 days starting on the 29th, hoping some walleye or catfish will cooperate.

Dont forget rt 58 between Greenville & Jamestown is closed. The detour takes yinz to rt 18 so ya may as well pick up rt 18 at Greenville (Thiel College) and continue to Hartstown. There you can connect with rt 322 or continue on 18 to Linesville or Espeyville.
To Snodgrass launch: Cross over 322 staying on 18 for about a 200 yds (-/+ watch for sign to campground) turning left. Watch for the stop sign in about 2 miles. Straight through and continue the course to the next stop sign where you will see "Welcome Inn". Left turn to Snodgrass, right turn to Orchard launch or Espeyville. Straight through to wherever the hell that goes.... I am not knowing.
Happy & Safe 4th of July

I lost you at the campground sign. Never noticed it in all the years I’ve been traveling that way. I’ll keep an eye out for it next time up. Thanks for the info.

Ken the name of the road (after crossing 322) is Westford Rd. Unfortunately there is no name at the intersection with rt 18. The name on the campground sign says "White Haven Campground"... 4 miles. Though the campground is there, dont expect to see a sign indicating the entrance. Continue on and you cross East Lake Rd/Church Rd before coming to a stop (Welcome Inn) where you turn left onto South Lake Rd/Snodgrass Rd and find Snodgrass Launch in about a 1/4 mile (+/-).

Haven't wet a line for a few weeks now, so went fishing for more fishin' stuff today 'round Pymy area instead. One son got a Bennington 20SFI pontoon with 50 hp Mercury, other son spent little over 2 grand on lures & I ended up with a heavy 15' square back Grumman Eagle canoe smh. Really sad, much cheaper to just go catch some fish. Speaking of Eagles can't believe the amount of Bald Eagles I've seen around the north end this year. They are amazing to watch. crappy Crapp, son just called to wish the old lady Happy Birthday

Decided to give pymy another try this morning. Pulled some hot n tots and shad raps on leadcore, bottom bounced and even tried to drop shot. Started to get some hits on the drop shot with gulp worms, but the heat was getting to us, so we were off the lake by 11am. Caught 4 perch and one sunfish. Giant bait pods everywhere. This was our 5th trip up this season and we still have not caught a single walleye.

Kos, just go up to Lake Erie on those calmer days and use those same tactics in 45 ft water and get your walleyes. It’s about forty more minute ride to get there but we’ll worth it by getting your twelve fish limit for two people. Good eating size fish too. I have an Ohio license as well as a Pennsylvania so I go out of Conneaut Ohio. Quick limits and I’m off the lake by nine or ten in the morning before it gets too hot. They’re doing the same thing out of Walnut in Pa.

Thanks for the reply guys. I started fishing Pymy back in the late 90s and we soon got the itch to fish Erie so we bought a Lund Fisherman W/merc 90 and 9.9, big enough for calm days on Erie, but small enough for Pymy. You are right Chauncy, fishing was easy up there and we would often get our limits well before noon. It was around 2010 when we had a bad experience on Erie. I think you know the story, winds quickly picked up and I did not think we were going to make it back to shore, no joke, that was the last time we ever had that boat on Erie. I sold that boat a couple years ago and bought a smaller boat just for our smaller lakes. Ice Nut, you are right about the night fishing. I have never given night fishing a try, but we always see guys just getting ready to start in the late afternoon or early evening, as we are calling it quits for the day.

OK I know I'm not a believer 🤐 in "spotburning" but being in the area this 4th of July and not having a botor moat ready, would anyone have a suggestion🤔 for watching fireworks💥 on land? 🤗

I am going to be camping at Jamestown campground the first weekend of August. Was planning on going down to the out flow at the **** and fishing the beginning of the Shenango. What is the best artificial lures to use there? I don't like using live bait because I believe that is cheating. It is not about catching the fish, it's about the chase and solitude!

So me and the better half was out-n-about on this fine day in Aug when we see the "tournament" banner at the Espeyville boat launch.
Any news ❓❓❓

It was the kid's tourney, BTDT. More info to follow. I wasn't there due to lack of kids in the family, but more so because I spent Saturday using a ditch witch to dig french drains and Sunday cutting up dead ash tree on the allotment properties.

Roy thanks for the update muchly appreciated. I'll bet there was fun times for all.🍻 Sounds like you been busy as a beaver cutting trees and taking care of water problems.🙃 Speaking of which, I didn't think the ground was ever going to dry up. Couldn't mow the grass without fear of getting stuck. I too got to cut things up with a chain saw (🤗). Three rhododendron & three 20 ft tall ever green thingys, now sleep in the ash pile. Today I gather all the stuff I should of thrown away years ago, plus all the great stuff kindly left behind by the previous owner, and head to the dump. Take care, good times and tight lines.
