Tying Mark's Carpet Fly

Hello All,
My friend mark Stothard was a locally famous hunte/fisherman/artist/fly tier on New York's Oak Orchard Creek.  He died in 2004, and I feel bad that he has no web presence at all, so i made this video demonstrating his most popular fly design.

    Been There Done That,
I take it you are the webmaster?  And that I didn't forget to paste the link, but that the video must also be reviewed?

Pete, I believe new posters have limited permissions in regards to posting links, this is to restrict (hopefully) the spammers and trolls. Once you have an established presence you should be able to post links.

No Pete I am not associated with with this Forum in any way, shape or, form (though some think I am)   I do enjoy helping people whenever I can so i I searched your thread and found it on Youtube.  I am assuming you did want people to watch your video, and I did post a update with my thoughts after watching the video.

Once again, I think the video was nicely done, the technique and outcome was fascinating.  Though I'm far from qualifying even as a 'novice',  I do enjoy tying my own lures.

Thank You Been there for helping me out.  My post is rather superfluous without a link!
Mark Stothard was the kind of guy you could write a book about.  Don't believe I am the guy to do it, because you'd have to recapture what it was like to be around him.  He had a wicked, vulgar sense of humor that you'd have to be able to speak in his voice to do properly.  I'll try to give you a taste:  Mark had a daughter who had health problems and spent a lot of time in the hospital.  A little boy who was in the same wing had to have a leg amputated, and was feeling down about it.  To cheer him up, Mark exclaimed,"Boy, they'll have an easy time tracking you in the snow!!"  If I said, that, they'd throw me out of the building.  Somehow Mark had a delivery that cracked up the boy, and both his parents until they doubled over.  Later he got a letter from the boy's father thanking him for lightening the mood.

So your saying,  Mark was so tactful, he was able to tell a person to go to hell in such a manner, the person would actually look forward, to going?  Wish I could have known him but at least now, thanks to his friend, I know of him.

    Take care and tight lines.

PS.  The video was nicely done and Mark's technique, very impressive.

I was blessed to fish with Mark on many occasions, he was definitely one of a kind, and his passing was a tremendous loss to western NY, and the fishery .  There is an excellent article on the Oak that includes Mark and the carpet fly (everyone forgets the baby rainbow!) in the current issue of Eastern Flyfishing.
