Clean up aisle 5 !

Went for a hike this morning before sun up. Love the quiet and seeing the outdoors wake up. Peace and quiet unless you spook a grouse at daybreak! It's been a long time since I've seen one so I definitely forgot how loud they are! Talk about causing a heart attack!

    Glad you got out and can certainly sympathize with the reaction to the bird... I spent a lot of time as a kid hiking and horseback riding in the woods and hated them taking off when I was walking by but REALLY hated it when they did it when I was on horseback... bit the dust once or twice and came close a dozen times thanks to those darned things!

    That's awesome! Its been 20 years since I last saw or heard a grouse in Washington County. There was a big dead oak log behind our home in East Finley where I would watch Mr. Thunder Pumper drum and display each spring.

    I'm not far from you in Washington county and best I can remember seeing any grouse around here has to be the 70s.

    Had a similar one first day of Buck season one year. Heading up a mountain before daylight with a flashlight on, reached for some under roots to give myself a boost uphill and out they came ! Two grouse flushed out within breathing distance of my face ! Yea......heart attack city !
