Wow, I'm sorry you feel that way. Your assumptions are wrong, but, if going off on me somehow makes you feel better then I'll be your target. Hope you have a better day on the water next time.

No one should have to hire a "monitor" to clean up after "sportsmen," especially out of state "guests", who should be bending over backwards to avoid further loss of access , or raising of out of state license fees (DUH!). So happy to hear you describe your clean up efforts (NOT)! Locals pay all the taxes, perhaps you should ask if OK before just assuming it was an acceptable space. Or just stay in PA, go the Erie you got all the gud and many feesh anyway! Get yer guys to stock sammins so the West VA morons can go to yer state again. And the Russians! FOADIAF!
Uhhh. Dude. What's yer deal?! Someone pee in yer waders? Most people who post on here (like SS I'm assuming) are NOT the problem. Do you talk to people that way in person? Inturdnet muscles strike again!

You encounter a lot of litter, and do nothing about it, but comment that the power company has a guy being paid to clean up (higher rates for "local" consumers to accommodate spoiled out of staters). I'm listening to veterans of the "Alley show" complain when they hit the same thing on LO tribs, calling it a shyteshow, and they are part of the show. You decide there is adequate space for you to cut in on a spot where someone else if already fishing , and then exchange harsh words when called out. So this is normal Alley behavior and u're not part of the problem? And I listen to the Alley local p+m about the muphere's from Pittsburg, remember u're all muphere's when you come to NY.

Smallsac Not necessarily shallow as much as standing in right spot. The river bottom is very contoured if you don't know where your going you can go from shin deep to chest deep or more in one step. It usually is a zoo, two weeks ago I seen so much litter; mostly beer bottles (even 1/2 a bottle of jagermeister), but power plant now has a "river monitor" that I believe cleaned most of it up that day. But not sure if hes there everyday. Your right but had occasional days throughout the years were I could count number of guys at the dam on one hand. Wall fishing appears to be locals only (some guy called me a d*ickhead when I took one cast in an open 18' section, trying out new rod. Put hook back on the keeper n told him to have at it *sshole). Its definitely the worst you will see of "fishermen", however the river is a nice fishery just draws bad crowd.
That doesn't sound fun at all. I cannot comprehend how you did not throw multiple people in the water haha

Lucky13/Charlie, Please reread my posts. I did not at anytime exchange harsh words with anyone on this forum. I responded to an ignorant individual because I took one cast in an area nobody was fishing. Same as I originally did with you. Unless you were there you cant speak facts. You are basing your judgement on your opinions, with which you are uninformed. So let me help you out.. 1. The bottle of Jägermeister was removed from the river by me and thrown in the can. Didn't think you needed a play by play of my day. I mentioned bottles because glass and rocks don't go well together for fisherman. The bottles were on the high wall. I wasn't taking them with me on my way out to the dam; they were gone on the way back, assuming by the monitor as I seen him picking up other debris. I'm not sure which state the people leaving the litter were from, the garbage I seen wasn't signed. 2. I live nowhere near Pittsburgh, I am on the east side of the state. I do fish Erie, as well as other states and the same as other people fish in Pa. I don't give a dam where your from as long as your not a slob. I don't have a sense of entitlement based upon where I/you are from. 3. Unless you were there when I took one cast in an area nobody was fishing, you have no understanding of context. Do you ask everyone for permission before you make a cast? 4. Your lack of understanding and quick judgement are both very disappointing for someone claiming to be a "true sportsman". 5. I was responding to the OP, who asked a question. I didn't stick my nose in where it don't belong. 6. I find it interesting that someone so dedicated to Ontario tribs and bashing alley fisherman is trolling on a PA forum. Take a look in the mirror! Ultimately I really do care what yours or anyones opinion is. I will continue to fish and wont waste my time dealing with low budget "know alls" whos ego is as big as their mouth. If you don't like it, though sh*t.

Oak orchards is tame compared to Pulaski, when going to the Oak I prefer to fish Sandy Creek for big browns and less pressure. Next time though I would recommend checking out the town pool on the Salmon River in Pulaski, either the week before or week after Columbus day weekend. Great bunch of sportsman there, you will love it! lol I've seen it all up there on the SR; drunk guys drinking straight out of a half gallon of liquor down by the river and falling in, to guys hitting each other in the head casting to the other side of the river and getting into fist fights or throwing each other in the water, to guys wearing actual helmets and googles while ripping huge triple hooks through the water to snag, to guys having their fish wrap around a boulder under the river and just take their clothes off and dive down in underwear to free it up (have seen multiple guys do this up there before and then successfully land the fish afterwards), to guys that walk up and down the river bank coaching every person who hooks up on how to hold the rod and work the drag, like a play by play sports announcer on TV, to guys fall in and have their waders fill up and have to be rescued by other anglers. For what it's worth; my dad was up to the SR this year, and said the river was fishing the best it's been in 5 or 6 years. Kings everywhere, and people were catching/snagging all day long, all throughout the river. He landed his limit of legally hooked kings everyday for five days in a row, and didn't get up early any day. Great year for the salmon run, but will probably be winding down soon.

So, to avoid the crowds you're recommending Sandy Creek for big browns?

There is a distinct lack of public access to Sandy Creek. Not saying none, but many more miles posted than open.

This season on the salmon has been spectacular, both for the fish and the circus. The town pool, ellis cove and the tressel have provided hours of entertainment. The DSR has fished well for weeks and they say that steel and browns are now working their way in. The smaller tribs, like the erie creeks are hit and miss. So, if you need to plan on some specific time, plan on going to one of the big rivers, Oswego, Salmon,Black and plan on an interesting show.

Trying to get out of a trip to the Oak/Burt for one day of fishing (28th) although the Slammin' should be dying off or full blown zombies by then, and the terrible crowds with them(to a tiny degree). I like the colored up browns and steelhead anyway. Regardless, it is too much of a haul for me (6 hours each way with the kids & I would have trouble driving across town for this circus), but some in-laws live up there, and have been pestering us relentlessly to come up. My uncle in law is the guy who fell off the wall there and broke his foot and ended up getting the bottom part of the dam closed.

Generally, the parts that are not posted and are underwater. Every time another crew descends from the south, more of the stream goes off limits, but I'm sure you are familiar with that from Erie.

As should you for all the specific spots along the erie coast you have named for the newbies and mupheres. The last time I pointed out action along the LO shoreline, 27 out of state a**h***s showed up a day later and trashed a piece of property that offered access to a mile of stream, gone now, posted if you don't have permission. Stay in Penciltucky, you got lots of fish there.

Braggers & big mouths get what they deserve......lots of company....and a chance of never fishing there again !

I lament the loss of access...some great spots lost. As Ive said before....don't broadcast fish porn vids or detailed reports, if you see snagging happnin report it, pick up da trash as you walk the stream. That's the way everyone should roll...
