There's no place like home.
Fantastic weather at deer camp. Put miles on the Atvs, used up a lot of different ammunition and restocked the wood pile.
Seen 1 turkey yesterday but it was a hen. Gonna put up 6 trail cameras and start watching the antlers grow throughout the summer.
Fun stuff indeed.

been seeing the effects of Nova for a few days along with the State weather warnings-
it sprinkled for about 5 minutes an hour ago and the stink was unbearable
kinda like diesel exhaust mixed with rotting wood smoke had to shut all the windows,
rain stopped -stink stayed

Well that doesn't sound much fun. We haven't gotten a drop of rain although a few miles away in Massachusetts I guess they got 1.5 .
I was so hoping to not water the garden and have a campfire. Normally we have a fire every night outside but not since Sunday at deer camp.
My fun stuff begins tomorrow morning processing our chickens. All our stations are setup. Sould go smooth and going to like the cooler weather.

No worries trevor, it stinks here as well from livestock but I don't mind being outside well past sundown.

Yesterday in Northern and western New York was nasty. Smoke was so thick you had to drive with headlights on during the day.

today is supposed to get progressively worse -- the smoke in your lungs can leave long lasting issues for those if us with preexisting conditions--sucks

Here's something I use pretty much every summer when in MT. Zoom in to your area for greater detail.

Anyone that says Kayak fishing is fun stuff, their crazy.
I put in about 5 hrs with the Kayak. Caught a bunch of fish but it was so uncomfortable and awkward fishing out of it. I seen the complete fishing Kayaks out there and they still looked like a hassle.
Thoughts of bringing it to Rhode Island for fluke have diminished.

Happy Father's day to all the dads.
Went camping to the ausable River with my son and grandson. Caught plenty of trout and my grandson won the campground tournament.
All went great until I pulled a stupid move and cut the tendon on my finger. Strange how that's what holds us together in pieces. The finger just hung the looking ugly. Hospital stitched the skin back together and splinted until I see a surgeon to decide what's next.
Oh well, fun stuff while it lasted.

No idea about scammers but this is what I call fun stuff.
Harvesting from the sea.
I suck at fishing out here though.

Thanks to the advice given. I still suck at fishing salt. Had big surf and a red tide moving along.
Clamming however is a different game out here for me. Basically limited out in 2 hrs for 5 days.
Lobster prices dropped dramatically. I bought 24 1.5- 2 lb this this week. Good harvest from the sea at little costs to take us throughout the upcoming winter.
Life is good.

Ct  has finally made it legal to shoot a Bear in self defense--before you could shoot a burglar in your house but NOT a Bear- shooting a Bear would get you arrested facing jail time--Yes even in self defense,
In the news today a man was reportedly bitten by a Bear while trying to protect a dog--officials advised it was the mans fault because he had bird feeders out on his porch which attracted the Bear.
Sooner or later something real bad is going to happen here and of course they will blame the victim.
Antis have the State by the onions.

Just looked at the cam and see the river is up a bit-must be a kayak weekend.
With this kind of water at this time of year the first King  reports are right around the corner,

Reports are there have been a few fish moving around but not enough to waste $$$$$ on a long ride northwest.

If these guys had ever seen the Salmon runs of 35-/40 years ago they would be embarrassed to make the reports caused by a few scouts coming in now.
Notice to new folks--
Ya know its started when ya look at the river cam above the bridge and see folks is shorts out there spread all over- especially in the evening when they are outa work and school before the big  out of stater pushes arrive.,
Generally starts up in a couple of more weeks with some pods before that which are made out to be spectacular runs by some who live off of the fishery

Have said before I really like Arbys if its to be fast food-well today went right down there upon reading they were featuring a new Big Game Burger, read its Elk and venison although I always called elk venison
OK---dont waste your time and money--  overcooked and relatively tasteless meat excessively smothered in some kind of dark sauce that I disliked immensely.
Too bad as I like their food,
