I thought the advertising in the digest helped pay for printing them.

I never opened mine up anyways.  If I wanted to check something, I just looked it up online.  Download the .pdf for free onto your phone and computer and consult it when needed.

A bit of salt to the wound; PALS gets thier cut for another transaction.

LMAO yesterday when I picked up my new license. After handing the associate my CID# I was expecting the first question to be for a ID but instead, was asked if I wanted to pay $6.00 for a reg. book.

    Ya gotta love it!!!

Friday I cut out from my greenhouse chores and drove 3 blocks to the Court house to get my lifetime license renewed. First off it was busy and parking was difficult to find. After parking I entered the Court house and security made me empty my pockets and put my stuff in a basket and run through an x-ray machine. The deputy sheriff says hold on you have a weapon. What? There's a weapon attached to your key chain. Oh the 2" cuticle tool for my finger nails. Know it's a weapon was his answer. lol Where going to lock it up. Fill out this information to get it back. Ok on to the treasurer department. It's busy as hell and a new guy ( that shouldn't be there ) waits on me. I tell him I want everything that the old licence has. He then ask me if I want anything taking off,it was sort of asking the question backwards, again I tell this I want the same things as last season. He goes on to tell me,about the pheasant stamp, the $6.00 booklet and the new doe application. He processed to tell me he knows nothing about the new hunting info or even the old stuff. Why in the world is this****clown working there? I suspect he got his job by knowing someone.  I exit the office and collect my key chain with (THE WEAPON) on it. The woman officers unlocked the strong box but would not take the keys out she told me too,I didn't get that. She had no trouble taking them off me to lock up. Best part about this is the clerk forgot the migratory Bird stamp. So Monday I'LL have to do it all over again. My buddy thinks I look a little like a terrorist. lol I'd like to find a turban to wear and have my sidearm on,and have a little fun. You'd be reading about me. My buddy went through the same security last week and had a money clip that is a 3" pocket knife but went through undetected. lol This sh_t only happens to me. Does Wal-Mart renew senior lifetime license ? I've gone to the Court house for 52 years, but I think I'm done,it's to much of a hassle. Three years ago I put a quarter in the meter which give you an hour,a fringing hour. The clerk( another new duffus )asks another clerk 13 questions to fill out my license. When I got back to my truck I had a $5 parking ticket. That was a quick hour and another incompetent clerk. This stuff funny,it only happens to me. lol

    Re: 2018 license 2017/06/25 15:20:00 (permalink)
Received a postcard from the PGC concerning CWD. There will no longer be CWD permits in my area, but rather, they will try to control CWD through the use of a twist on the DMAP program.

If one wants, they can buy a DMAP permit at the same place one purchased a license. Sort of.

I contacted a friend of mine that typically has his ground in DMAP and asked him if I bought the permit while I was out getting my license, could I use it to hunt with him a few days on his ground. He emailed me back and said I better read the info on the PGC website and not just the postcard. He then asked, with an LOL, if he could hunt my property if he got the new DMAP.

It turns out that the new DMAP that replaced the CWD permit covers through two different DMAP numbers, most or parts of several counties. The interesting thing is that unlike the regular DMAP which requires the landowner to request their ground be put into DMAP and then handing out the permits, this new DMAP puts all the ground within the PGC designated area under DMAP, sells unlimited DMAP permits at any license point of purchase, then requires landowners to either allow or deny access to their ground by those holding a DMAP permit.

Keep in mind that none of these landowners were asked if they wanted to enroll in the program. In fact, had I not received the postcard, I would not even know the program existed until people started knocking on my door to ask permission for access.

I find it a tad presumptuous of the PGC to make the area designation (without landowner input); sell permits; and then put the burden of permitting or denying access on the landowners who may not even know the program exists.

It sounds an awful lot like stocking steelhead in waters that run through private land, then putting the burden on the landowners to permit or deny access. Then being surprised that land gets posted that was not previously posted.

For all the nashing of teeth and wringing of hands over whether permitting Sunday hunting or semi autos would cause land to get posted and there seems to be no thought whatsoever of having a parade of people bothering landowners for access because they already bought the DMAP permit and feel entitled to hunt in the areas the PGC outlined on a map. And that makes the presumption that they actually ask for permission and don't take the "I bought the license, so I can" attitude that some take with the purchase of a fishing license and Erie/trout permit with regard to steelhead.

Big Tuna you only need walk into a Walmart, hand the clerk your CID# and ID.

I, like you, was greeted by a newby but once the dept mgr showed up, all went well. Hell I didn't even have to check my Bond Arms at the door and there's always parking.

Yea those court houses are a joke. Slowest workers I've ever seen plus the parking is all limited. The meter guy or lady runs around all day ticketing cars just like on Parking Wars ! Jury duty is the biggest joke yet . Sit around waiting for a trial for hours and hours till someone tells you they reached a plea bargain and you can all go home now !  What a racket ! What a waste !

Yea old habits are hard to break. I went back at 8:05 yea the Court house opens but not the treasurer department. lol Parking meter only takes quarters and it's a half hour. So I headed over to Marcos super market and bought some chicken breasts then headed back to the Court house, another quarter back through security and into the office. First girl tells me to go to another window, second women tells me she doesn't know how to do it,go the girl number three, bingo a winner. In the mean time A-Hole say hey how you doing, I told him not so good, that he is the cause of my trouble. I told him that I told you 3 times that I wanted everything on that licence as  last year. He say absolutely nothing and give me a stupid look. In the mean time another clerk tells him not to worry about it. Ha Well I told the second clerk your not the one with the inconvenience and after 52 years I'll be heading to Wal-Mart next year. I'm done with the Court house yin yans

I've been saying it for years! They need to stop wasting Tax payers money on random drug test on courthouse employees and just give them an IQ test when they hire them!

If so, somebody is welcome to the stamp, I ain't buying!

What a rip off for lifers. Pheasant stamp should be grandfathered in for us old birds.

Jist ain't right, I'm tellin yinz, taint rite.

    I'm callin my courthouse today.

    One, at least — LOL.

Since I raise English Pointers, PGC birds, even with the new permit, are cheap. We kill 150-200 over my dogs every year. If those were preserve birds (which we also do), the cost would be far greater since the going rate in my area is $32-$36 each, with a minimum of 10 per hunt.

Still, some old friends decided not to buy the permit, not because of cost, not because they now had to and didn’t for 50 years, but because it is priced higher than the general license— kind of like going to the $2 matinee movie and having to spring $10 for popcorn and $8 for a Coke.
