GRAY SCUD
Daiichi 1560 wet fly/nymph hook sz.14-20
thread- tan or gray 8/0
tail- mallard flank natural white
back- scud back over white z-lon
body- hares ear gray dubbing mixed with either cream or black to achive desired color
rib- 140 denier gray thread
antennae- same as tail
legs- body dubbing picked out between ribbing
1. tie in mallard flank
2. tie in gray rib
3. tie in scud back then z-lon
4. dub body to just behind eye
5. fold over z-lon tie down. Fold over scud back tie down
6. wrap gray rib up body in 3 to 5 turns depending on hook size
7. tie in mallard flank behind eye pointing toward the front of the fly. Whip finish and pick out dubbing and your done.
Tiers Note: Some type of epoxy can be used to cover the scud back but that is not neccesary.
