Doing a google search, I was unable to find anything, trout included, that target the porcupine embryo as a food source.

    I've got a hunch it'll catch something.

    Badger?

Just kidding.  Neat looking fly.  What's the recipe?

Well, I was trying to imitate freshwater shrimp by clipping the top hackle off.  I'm just playing around basically.  I added a small tail to this one.

I thought it was a bottle brush caddis.

    Freshwater shrimp

Tie in, move to hook bend, take two pieces of heavy mono, burn one end for the eye, shrimp eyes stick up a little bit. Take a small bunch of moose mane and tie it in, take a small bunch of calf tail and tie it in. Tie a piece of shell back or plastic back in and something to rib. Tie in a hackle, dub back to the eye, pull the shell over, rib it, put a small pheasant heart in for the tail and salley hansen the whole top including the tail.

Give me 20 mins, ill whip one up.

Nice looking fly, reminds me of one a guy tied in Indy with a rubber glove. The only bad thing is they take a lot of time and unless you tie them huge, you cant get the detail right. At least I cant. If you know a place where you can get size 6 stonefly nymphs let me know

Ill make a suggestion, color the top more, the stones that do have yellow belly are more brown here in the East.

Tie your biots in on the side of the hook, tie them in first thing before your foam. Btw, pheasant tail fibers would make good legs for that.

Wow, thanks for the tips and the tutorial.

Ever hear of a wing-burner?  The guy that made the golden cricket told me to buy wing-burners but I'm not even sure what he was talking about.  I hope Gander Mountain has `em.

Gander mountain does not have wing burners. They are thin pieces of flat metal that have shaped edges. Tey are made like tweezers. You put the feather in then burn the edge of the wing. The metal makes the shape of a wing you can get them in the shape of caddis, mayfly, and stonefly wings that Ive seen. The pros use them a lot for wingcases. Some people swear by them others want nothing to do with them. you could prob. make one your self you just eed the shape right.

I'm very familiar with the terms "RUN AND GUN" and "FISH ON!"

"They're in here I can smell 'em"
