GPS units

I'm looking for a gps unit for my car and was wondering if anyone could recommend one. I bought a new car last year and didn't get the factory installed gps and am regretting it.

I have a handheld that only details larger roads and provides straight line distances. I'd like one that can display turn by turn directions, maps as many roads as possible, and I can enter coordinates as well as a street address.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have also liked our Garmins, we have had 3 models, the last one is probably now 'old' in technology terms (got it two years ago) but they are now very easy to use, they have an easy interface and the screens are decent in size and clarity. I think the later models have 'unlimited' map updates so you can hook your gps unit up to your computer once in a while and it will update any road changes and update the lists of local services and stores etc.
I know my favorite feature on the last garmin we got is the way the screen switches to a 'lane view' of interchanges/offramps when you are approaching them...it helps you figure out which lane you need to be in ahead of time. I do a lot of driving in unfamiliar cities and have really learned to appreciate the 'squawk box' as I call it. Another added benefit is the business info available, if you find a business on a search you can usually get a phone number for it also, so it saves me trying to look contact info up on my phone.

$80 with lifetime maps is a good deal.  map updates are usually north of $100

iPhone or just about any smart phone now days.  I'd be willing to bet car GPS units will be obsolete in 10 years.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I bought a Nuvi similar to the one Wayne listed, but it displays traffic conditions and a few other bells and whistles. I almost returned it when I saw Wayne's link though.

    Thanks again.
