I fish out of a Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 on both the lake and bay, and have seen many Targas out. You should be okay with common sense.

I have a 17 and love all but one thing, the gop gunnels should be wider. It was a beach mounting the equipment. Preffered a lund, but out of my range. Mine is set to go anywhere around here, small lakes, great lakes, and rivers. BEats having two boats to maintain, been down that road, it sucked! Like John said use common sense and you'll be fine. Probably pushed it on Erie once or twice, came back in rather quickly and said, "third time I'm not pressing my luck!"

I have been doing it for 12 years. What do you want to know? It has its good points and bad too. It takes rough water well and you can run pretty fast in fairly rough water. But it is very sensitive to weight in the rear and like a big see/saw. Does not get up on plane quickly so don't overload the back end.  Yes I did find out the hard way. Still , 12 years of bouncing around Lake Erie and no leaks yet.☺  I plan to keep mine.

I fished out of one there for four years. You always need to use common sense, but that boat handles big water just fine. Im not a fan of the platform in back. Kinda inconvenient for trolling and setting riggers. I did have some issues with getting on plane with the back livewell full and you do not want two big guys standing on the back platform for long when it is rough.

I have a tracker Targa V-18 115 Optimax. I have been on Erie once but was just wondering if anyone else had experience with a targa on the lake. Just someone to compare info and thoughts with. Thanks

That will do fine and fishing the big lake is worth the effort.  I put a 15hp kicker on mine which was the best thing I ever did. Because I trailer it, I can launch closer to the area i'm fishing and don't have to run as far too. On the days when it's too rough to be comfortable on the big lake, the bay will always save the day. Go for it!
