Blue Fox Vibrax for steel?

I enjoy fishing my local trout streams with an ultralight spin rod. When doing so, i usually cover a lot of water with my favorite weapon, a gold Blue Fox spinner. I have become very proficient using it.
I never really thought about trying that on the Salmon River. I know that i would have to change out the treble hook.
Anybody ever use spinners this time of year for fresh steel with any success?

I haven't , but seen some people do very well with them in Ellis and Pineville. If you're good at using them , swap out to a single and go.

    What he said.
Have a friend who flings them back home and has days that he outfishes everyone else.
He uses mainly the orange and the blue in large but not  the largest size.

It is my go to lure in early season tipped with a Gulp 2 1/2" emerald shiner.  Deadly on the Delaware system too.
I don't see why it wouldn't be deadly on steel in sizes 3 & 4 that come with the siwash hook.

Or make your own, silver Colorado blade works great with a 1/4 oz bass weight painted hot color or black for a body on the shaft, red beads for bushings.  Just cast upstream and retrieve at a just fast enough rate to turn the blade and keep it above bottom. And hang on, when they hit a spinner, they crush it.  A favorite technique on the Genesee once the Salmon are done (and this year, what salmon, run fizzled to next to nothing  almost as soon as it started?)

Last trip up I saw a guy catch a salmon on a spinner looked like a Mepps. Legit hook up. Only bad thing was he was using it on his spinning rod and he was in the lower fly zone and it also had a treble hook on it. I witnessed it all he bought the fish to hand turned to the 2 guys next to him and he asked if they wanted the fish. Bad thing was the 2 guys next to him were unmarked DEC officers. I'm sure they'd work good luck. Make sure you know the SR regs and you'll be fine

Was told this week up there that some were having luck with single hook  flashy spinners.
One guy said gold was being used and he saw them hooking up wth it.
I thought his description was similar to that of a smaller 2 inch or so trout lure.
Saw guys on a boat using something big and green and white- looked like something for a Bluefish.
They were bigger than those old bright orange wiggling lures they used to use.
Had to be about 5 inches long.

Best thing for kings when they first hit the Genny, other than skein,  are the largest jointed floating rapalas you can get in chartruese or fire tiger.  But it is expensive fishing when these are commanding 10.00+ even at the "Big box, low price" places.

We've got a gang working the genny late at night this year using nets and spears, so things are still relatively civilized up east no matter how bad they get.

2B, could be I am suffering from terminal CRS anymore,. and that was a loooooooong time ago!

Don't know how much of a help I'd be here since I fish in Erie but, we've caught a few steelhead around the Trib mouths trolling with size 4 blue and green vibraxes.
