The seal is broken

So I finally had time to shoot up after work, meaning I get there at about 5:45. I went to the  place that has easy access as I had no time to walk anywhere. I got a good spot and managed one good hit and one that was iffy. I also had a little steel hit my fly when I stopped to tighten the reel down, needless to say it was one jump and off.    There was very little fishing going on  , some catching going on and a fair number of fish, most looked small. Some a&& hat across from me  snagged 2 little rainbows  about a foot long. He was whooping and hollering about how he just caught ''little steel''. I yelled over on the second  ''good fishing over there you must be proud''.  Now that I have broken the seal it is all over, I need to go back, it's like crack..........

Don't worry guys I gave that crack stuff up,  used the money to buy fishing gear. Now a screaming drag, peeling line and  busting my knuckles is all I need.

Booted  and a hike and I’m first  on  the water.
Got in around  4:30 rolled straight to my chosen spot.
Find a comfy spot and wait for the sunrise..
People start arriving about 15 minutes after I got there.
All seemed nice and spaced out pretty good.
Then 10 minutes before legal start a buffoon wades straight  across and sets up on my downstream shoulder.
Time comes and I’m locked on my second cast.
    Couple jumps  and spits.
Buffy hits one and also boots it but it was a king.
After that everyone was standing  in the riff staring so intently that they forget to cast until they see something.
If I may opine for a second.
If its overcast and spitting rain and your polarized sunglasses  are an critical part of your equipment you are not a fisherman by any sense of the word.
I  crack off a king and decide its time to get away and set up camp.

Buy batteries because the Kodak I drowned now eats though them like the cookie monster.
Tried to get some shorts vids but haven’t figured out how to upload them as of yet.

Weht to see Malinda and buy some hooks and materials.
Then a quick drive around and back were I started.
Just as I got there and sat down to cool a bit from the walk a pod of chrome blew through later said to be 15 or 20.

Not a touch for me  but the Jim Teeny wannabes poked several through the rest of the day.
Apologies to Jim Teeny who I have met and fished beside and in  reality seems like an OK guy.
Also a note to mention  BE CAREFUL OUT DRIVING .

Wearing a brown trout themed  buff pulled up over your face, and matching  fishing gloves cuts down on the glare so your Maui Jims work better. Do Jim Teeny wannabees fish integrated heads? I thought that was his big thing to reach the perfect level. Guys out west call him the ultimate snagger. It's pretty accurate that many use his techniques of nymph fishing and lose the drift, even though he's very adamant about the use of glasses.  I used a few of his  lines in the salt, but they were way to thin and coily for my purposes. Interesting read. I never thought about people on the SR  utilizing his methods. Just figured it was put on weight til the drift stops dead and drifts no more.  Get a new camera, please.

My steelhead buff just arrived in the mail yesterday. Now I can really look like a fisherman on the SR. Unfortunately my gloves are on back order till after the new year. I'll only be a want a be till then.

You'll have to stay out of the fly zones. I just thought of another Teeny/Altmar parallel- His famous nymph is pretty non-descript, sparse and all one color, kinda like the ever popular winter stonefly. Jes sayin'...

Tonight there were fewer fish and a few more fisherpeople. I managed 1 hook up of a bright chrome steel right at dark. 2 jumps and it was off. Till tomorrow.........

    Great Clint.
Sorry but I was to beat up and thought I was going to meet Chartist so was at the hotel eating a burger and fries with gravy and not getting a free beer!

    Speaking of which.
Yesterday walked from Pville to DB's backyard and back trying to find chromers while staying away from the sight fishers.

    Then.
They say walk up to the UFZ.
    Its easy they say.
The fukc it is I say.

Arms are still sore but still nothing gleaming for me.

come on 2b, you walked from Pville to db's but the UFZ was to much ? Heck even Jack finds it a wonderful stroll on the banks .. You took a wrong turn somewhere..

I put 8 miles on foot in the woods yesterday covering about 1/2 of our hunting property.. Hope to visit the other 1/2 this weekend with friends, not charts

One thing I know it's definitely easier than the hike I took the day I went to the DSR with Tuna and Fichy. That was also at a double time pace chasing flashlights that weren't theirs you talk about FUKC when I caught up to the lights and it wasn't them. But I did get the full tour of the DSR though.

So I got up at first light and was able to get a few hits, but nothing stuck. I was finally able to get a good take and land this Ho. I also played with a few steel and other Ho's that jumped and spit.
As the morning went on the anglers increased and I think I know why.
It seems like every time I go I complain about something or observe something not quite right. Well today îs  no different. Are folks so stupid and ignorant they do not know a fish I foul hooked????????? Had a guy across from me hooking up left and right. He was the know all type, lecturing to those across the river on which fly was '' working''  of course they were eating it up an switching flys at his command. Almost every fish was fouled. It's pretty easy to get hook ups when every fish leaves the rap**** and sits in front of you. CAST SWEEP LIFT. That's it. Pretty easy to tell when the tail end is facing up stream and that is the direction the fish is moving too. They move sideways through the water too.  Different folks same stuff. People above me, they would be chasing a fish and I would tell them ''  it's hooked in the dorsal, you ain't gonna turn it around in the fast water.''   I would get excuses like '' It was a good hook up there, the line wrapped around it'' or ''that's not my hook in it's ****'' I would just laugh and wait for the line to snap or for them to get wet. It was a humorous morning.  I basically had a real nice stretch to myself so to each their own.
I left and hit a few other spots from mid river up to the ball park and saw and had no luck.

I guess you can put nothing with letters 1D in it anymore.

    Nice Clint.
    How late were you there.
I decidfed to wait until it was light then pull the tent and pack up so I would be driving back and forth.
Got to the LFZ around 9:30. Waked up to the church where I had seen a car like I remember you had but by the time I got there it was gone.
Walked down the steps but didn't see yo  and it was packed so booted up and strolled to the UFZ.

    OK a couple points.
UG the death march in the DSR is further but the walk is easier.

Tunes The walk to DB's and back tp P town and the first walk in and out was the same day.So maybe it wasn't 10 miles but a rugged hike nonetheless when  going up hugging the river.
Had tug of wars with a couple dozen kings over the last 2 days.
Oh and did I mention I'm an overweight pansy.

I left at around 1100 I think. At 0930 it was probably the peak of #'s people.  I was standing on the rocks at the tail. I took turns fishing the tail and the rifles right down from the tail. Had that whole area to myself.
