RJ, you have some good patterns that are extremely effective. Tie whatever you feel like, but the one for each species is a great idea. Glad your on board and I hope I can get you on the river this fall. We've had some good times. Hope to have some more.

My issue is the neck and back start acting up after a few. I usually have the ball game on in the background. I have marks on my desk for the lengths of materials for the few ones I tie the most of. I did just put up a new light and that sure helps alot.

Thing is while I may tie many flies , I usually tie few patterns. Kinda get stuck in a rut of what works well so why change. Think I'm going to go with an unproven pattern of something I always want to try but never really do. Hope it will bring some luck. As for river time : Pretty positive I'm going to burn those last 2 oddball vacation days on weds-thurs when jack is up for salmon. Wouldn't mind hitting a weekend for steelhead before I get into full hunting mode in the fall . Come jan -1 however my work schedule totally changes . I get 3 & 4 weekdays off and an entire full 7 days off every month plus 5 vacation weeks. That should give me lots of opportunity

I'm with you on that notion rj... I (used to) often (when I had time) would sit down at the vise and tie something just to see if it would work... I am confident in anything I tie and hope they will work for others. Maybe a fall gathering is in need???

I'll be building a custom home for a '37 Chevy p-up, a '60 Volvo, and some vintage bikes about then. On the drawing board now, along with other projects. I am going to take vacation around the last week of Sept./First week of October, though. Looking forward to the flies! Sorry to hear about the knee, Bear. Hope you can wade well by the fall.

That's cool, I keep buying $30 lures and forgetting to buy fly hooks up there .. I have materials only no hooks except for the SRS size 4 .. Gonna spend some time shopping next week, hope they don't have their ice gear out already, lol

We blew our last window of opportunity on hitting the lake by sleeping late and going out for breakfast . Figured with the crashers all night it wasn't going to be worth an early rise . The lake played a little nice in the early am but is now a churning sea.
Did hit up all seasons and got my stock up of hooks and hackle. Going to whip some flies up in a frenzy when I get back home and will have something to bring to the table .
Guys itching to ply the SR waters should give it a go / scout on the Labor Day release . Right now the river is low and I wouldn't even bother taking the time unless there is nothing better in life's schedule , then again I guess life is all about searching :)
Be sending you a pm soon Charlie

Thanks for the report , HT, sorry the lake did not smile. I had planned on a Saturday trip to UFZ, but my new hobby, attending funerals, hit again for this week, maybe I'll get a day on LD weekend, and the next week I'm off to the daks for my "no permit needed" three nights and four days of (hopefully) playing with grasshopper and caddis eating brookies. The fish that were 10-11" last year were mostly 12-13" when I was up in August, at that size they start to get interesting. And I finally did what I thought was impossible , I got a double , two on one rod, an 8 incher that took a royal coachman wet, and a 12 incher that took the point, a damsel larva. Felt like a whale for a little while!

Guitar playing friend and former bandmate whose wife passed due to the Big C, far too young and as BJ said, only the good. You can't skip those to go fishing. Get up to the west branch and have one for Betters!

Well mine are done and I am a bit disappointed in the quality, but fairly happy. Just not in practice and since the surgery I have trouble sitting. That said I am sure the fish will not care. Charlie please pm me your address and I will get them out. I may try one more simple one if time allows.

All set with mine. Will be mailing tomorrow a.m. used some old tiemcos, a young brown badgered rooster neck, and an old white fox mask that have all been laying around for near 25 years or so... Dubbing was newer maybe 10 years... Dont have names for the patterns.. Maybe their spin offs of common named patternd, but All of these materials have put in their time through the years and my patterns I'm sharing have brought me success..., hope it pays off for all you guys. Thanks fichy for organizing this swap
