I fished the Jamestown area today. Put five keeper perch in the box out of eight caught. No crappies or gills caught. First time all year I didn't catch a crappie. These perch will be delicious tho.

I've been following this thread and I am amazed at the lack of walleye.  I used to go to Pymatuning all the time when I was young (25ish years ago).  My friends dad had a boat docked and a camper there.  Didn't matter what time of year we always caught walleye, and a great keeper to short ratio.  What has happened to all of the walleye?

Re: PYMATUNING FISHING REPORT 2016/11/30 11:13:34 (permalink)
BT I was fishing the marina area at Jamestown and there was numerous anglers coming and going fishing the docks.

I saw very little catching going on and I spoke to three guys fishing the outer most docks and their reports were sketchy at best.

I scanned the area from the docks out to 30ft and saw absolutely no fishy pictures even over what appeared to be some type of structure.

Of course we both know, this time of year, things change constantly and with my luck, the slabs could of started hitting hot and heavy, five minutes after I left.

I won't spot burn but if you contact a certain aquantince whose name I shall not drop BUT, who owns a grocery store, I'm thinking certain "slip numbers" may be obtainable which could produce some tasty fish.

I can attest to the spot as last year I was able to post a picture of a nice bucket of fish caught from there.

I do have a friend who will attest to the bucket of fish I posted.

Mean while I shall look forward, to some day, meeting you on the Pymie.

I have fished the docks several times in last couple weeks. One trip wife and I did ok 2 slab nice crappies numerous bull gills and a few perch.2nd trip lots small perch and few nice gills no crappie the 3rd was a bust other than a beautiful day. From my observation no one has been killing them from the docks that I know of.

Hard to catch many quality fish there as those docks get hit hard every day by the same guys. The fish don't have a chance to regroup. I know someone that's been there twenty straight days and he keeps everything he catches. Keep hunting those deer, BT.

Dog and I checked out Tuttle and Behind Welcome Inn today. More ice than I thought there would be but not enough to tempt me. I did bare my way about 20 ft" out at Tuttle after finding a solid shore which was not at the boat launch. To iffy for me. Fifty degrees tomorrow and all those 40 degree days coming up. Oh well.

Pymy was looking real nice today, clear, flat, and no ice anywhere except some light slush around shaded docks. Construction continues at the dam area, but water should rise a little more very soon. Get to Gander Mountain big sale soon !

We had the GM close in Robinson township last week. They ended up selling fishing stuff 70 percent off. It was kind of sick,I got a Marcum LX 5 for 250.00 from 539.00. A pair of insulated waterproof camo bibs for.56.00 from 189.00 a pair of Lacrosse ice kings for 42.00 from 169.00. Plus a pile of Raps for 3.00 bucks, ice jigs for .38 a piece, ice plastics .58 a pack of 15. Those tiny barrel swivels 8.00 pack of 50  for 1.40 Berkley trout worms 2.00 a pack. All steel shot and Turkey loads where 40 percent off. It was better than Christmas.lol I even brought my wife one day and bought her 60.00 worth of casual clothes. I'm a nice guy.lol

Was up Sunday Feb 19. Water was 35 degrees, got nothing! Ice was still on in some spots. Should be clear now. Water needs to be alittle warmer. Marked lots of fish on deep points, nothing intermedient or shallow.

Re: PYMATUNING FISHING REPORT 2017/02/21 23:25:03 (permalink)
Launched at 1:00 PM Monday 2/20/17 with ice covering the entire Jamestown area.

  Docks iced in.

  Lake looked like glass

 Made for tough trolling.

Second boat launched a few minutes behind me and headed north, breaking ice for as far as one could see.

Eventually  wind did pick up producing enough chop causing the ice to disappear.

Marked plenty of fish along with plenty of fish bait clouds.  Fished til just after 5:00PM. Talked with a couple other boats and anglers, fishing from the marina docks.

All reports were the same....... STUPID FISH!

Reports (as in rumor) from two anglers and Richter's bait shop, Linesville/Tuttle  Point area still locked up with ice.

Water at 35 degrees

Disclaimer: Time stamp is incorrect due to somebody forgetting to reset the time, stupid stupid.

Me too also Dave, I heard one peeper in my back yard this past night and expect that's gonna get intense till Sunday when the temps dip back to brrrrrrr. Middle of next week looking to be peeper friendly once agin.

Captain thanks for the where at on your picture. Might take a ride to the north side and see what I can see if ice remains afloat.
