anybody else notice that we do more talking about not catching fish than catching fish on this forum...at least I am in good company!!!

What am I doing here? Guess I'd better find a different site. Might have to get together and have a fish together on Shenango this fall. See if I can help you guys catch some fish more consistently.

Marco do you know anybody else who can have so much fun.......... not catching?  If it had to do with only catching, I'd of give up fishing a looooooooong time ago.  For me it's meeting good people who enjoy the time.......  it don't get no better than that.   Besides, I have many good fishing holes where I can catch fish on any Friday night and I don't have to clean em or cook em.  LMAO.  Good times buddy!
. I do enjoy reading all the stories on here have it admit it's been really slow lately haven't had boat in water for probably 2 months but I must say we have got a lot done around the house ...hoping the fall bite start pretty soon like next week ... Lol... Bow season just around the corner though....here is something to get your heart pumping there BTDT ... Only problem he was not on my camera .... Lol. A buddy sent me the picture   ... It was on his camera [/URL]

Nice dinner Roy , nice buck mopar !

Just a few pics from yesterday up on Pymy. Did toss a few just to get cobwebs off gear.....no fish.
Lake was a little choppy with muddy shorelines ,strange Shenango was like glass.

Never seen the over flow running water like this.

Brock, where the heck is that water going to? Surely not Shenango Lake. Have you seen how low that lake is already? If they draw it down for winter pool, all the sand bars will be visible.

Looks like they opened up two sections of the overflow while they work on the weir and do repairs. I'd guess the weir flow is entirely shut off. That all flows right into the lower river on into Shenango Lake. I know Shenango is at least 4 ft. lower than normal Summer pool.
Yea they are talking until Dec. of this year for total construction time.
Seen one small Bass swimming in that upper flow. Lots of seaweed & geese !

Good old Pymy sunset last night while fishing........life's good !

Just got back from my camp at pymatuning some really nice weather but the fishing is still slow.Fished  a couple mornings and 2 evenings some at Snodgrass and the other at tuttle point.A couple cats and a bluegill. Only saw a few boats out only 2 trailers at Snodgrass and only one at tuttle. Talked to a few of the folks who did fish and about the same catfish mostly. I did see 2 musky caught by a troller at tuttle .Hopefully soon some cooler weather and the fishing will pick up.

A quick report for you fall fishers. Went out of Snodgrass yesterday afternoon. Fished around Stocker and Bay 41. Water was still 77-81 on the surface.
Got the usual cats, perch, gills etc. but no stupid walleyes. Had a guy with us who wanted a kitty dinner so we boxed up a bunch to help lessen the population:)

Thanks Mike, I'm thinkin' I need to point the Fish Hawk toward Pymie in the near future.  With my luck, most likely won't do much....  errr 'any' catching, but I'll sure have fun doing some fishin'.

Big temperature change with the weather comin' this week along with, windy days to churn the water maybe reducing the water temperature  so I'm hoping, the cooler weather temperatures will begin to temper the water temperatures tempting the fish into the  temperature moderated shallow water.

Not my fault, brought on by the Fish Hawk spending too much time in her birth and not enough time on the water.  Stupid water temperature.

BTDT ... The Fish Hawk is not the only boat not hitting the water much . Been really slow here. Now Dr has been running a bunch of tests ... blood work , CT scans on arteries in neck & head , could have told Dr never mind checking head cause nothing up there anyhow... lol. Just kinda check ups had a stroke 5 years ago ... but I'd like to tell them ... They are not going to mess with my fall fishing and bow season . Mother natural has already messed enough with the fishing this summer....hope to get to Pymie soon but who knows just have to wait & see .... getting old does have some down falls 😜🍺.... if ya start catching ..... ya know them things called fish , let me know .... Buddy lol

Had 8 people from work fishing Pymy for a little "company tourney" on Saturday. One of the fishermen was the 11 year old daughter of one of the guys. Of course she won the tourney with 2 perch and took home the 80 dollar first prize. (There were no other prizes. :) The only other fish caught were two catfish. She was happy as could be. After the tourney we had a fish fry that included the fish caught that day, as well as some Erie perch that were caught the day before.

It was great day, and the 11 year old says she will be back next year to defend her title.

The lake is so low, how is the water high enough to flow over the spillway, or are they pumping it to keep the river flowing? What am I missing here?
Had to get my pontoon pulled over the weekend,  before it was on dry land.
It will be easier to get the dock out now that it is halfway on dry land.  :)

Edit: I guess you didn't say the picture was taken recently. :)

Re: PYMATUNING FISHING REPORT 2016/10/10 09:16:38 (permalink)
Roy , they have taken out two of the big block size slabs that hold back the water on the over flow. Bringing the lake level down at least 3-4 feet. They have and continue to let water out at a lower lake level. It will not drop anymore then the level it is now as far as I see. They are working on the weir and have the water completely pumped out to the bottom with the surrounding metal barriers. They are rebuilding and repairing the whole stone block and mortar  building. It's a major project but it's looking great.

Thanks Captain, now i understand. Did you try fishing there when you were there? Bet the walleye from the river are loving that water flow.

I did mess around but didn't have any luck. Will be heading back up in a week or two to the lake. Haven't had much luck in the that lower river past few years but that's just me. Use to be a good Walleye producer years ago, I got some nice ones in the past, but I believe it's been removed from the Walleye stocking list years now. I don't even catch small ones there but I've not seriously fished it much past two years. Just gave up after multiple trips and nothing. Would like to hear other river reports from guys that do fish it steady just wonder if any Walleye action exist.

It's a shame because they have done a lot of nice work on that lower river section for fishermen and even handicapped people . Lots of parking and bathrooms close too.....
just no fish ! Nothing.....  I don't understand the reasoning.

You can still get some nice eyes out of the river, just have to find the right holes.
I agree it's not as good as it used to be though.

How low is the lake, and is it low enough to make any ramps unusable?
