Barbs on hooks

Do you debarb the hook when fishing for steelhead? If you do do you also fish flies in tandem. When tying a fly to a fly with a debarbed hook how do you tie them together and with what knots?

Asking a lot here but everyone has been very helpful. By the way I just finished a great book = Nymph fishing rivers and streams by Rick Hafele and am about to start another by john Nagey.

no,I donot debarb it,no longer fish tandem, too great a chance and too many foul hook's.They only hit one fly,the other just get's stuck in the fish, somewhere. If you must fish two,tie the second fly to a 12" line and tie it to the eye of the first.

what if two steelhead worked together to pull the hook out?     ''thanks buddy i owe you one'' say a steelhead to another.

I've been fishing strictly barbless several years now for steelhead and haven't noticed any difference in the amount of hooked fish lost.  I find it easier to unhook them once landed and hooks come out of me easier too.

I don't usually fish tandem rigs for steelhead, but often do for trout.  The barbless hook doesn't create any issues when fishing tandem rigs.  I tie mine directly off the bend of the hook with a cinch knot.

Fishing with bait is like swearing in church.
