20 MILE

Hey guys. I was at 20 mile creek today. Fishing sucked. High and muddy. Anyway, I went in at the pond off hertzel rd. At the bottom of the hill there is a pile of beer cans. I usually have a bag or something with me to pick up things like that. Unfortunatly today I did not have a large bag. I was able to bring out some other trash items. But could not get these today.
If any of you readers plan on fishing this area. Please be kind and take a bag with you and bring back up some of this crap. Its too bad that this happens. But we can help.
Thanks in advance to anyone who cleans up. I and MANY others appretiate  the help.

It's your fish story,so tell it any way you want!!!

It's bad enough that the local yinzers are drinking busch light, but then they have to pollute the area with their empties.

I seriously doubt any local would leave beer cans on any creek.  And yinzers and local are oxymorons.  It's like saying a native Pa. fisherman who was born in Ohio.  I thought the chartist was a little more intelligent than that.

I just do not get the litter thing.....
Its not just a Erie problem either.
If you can carry a full container in why can't you carry a lighter empty container out DUH...
A place like 20 mile between the pond en' crik is probably a underage drinking hang out when fisher peoples ain't around just a guese.
But as fisher peoples we gotta STOP and go out of our way to clean this stuff up.
I keep gloves and trash bags in the Yukon at all times and when I see trash I put the gear away and before leaving I clean.
Chartist just a guese but when your not downing shots its a bottle not cans right b/c only locals like me drink out of a tin can.
KEEP THE LAUGHS COMING...intended or not.

Yeah, i hear ya. I don't understand that. 20-30# going in and <1# coming out, yet they choose the decorate the woods throwing them here and there. I spend more time down here picking up garbage than fishing.

I once asked a true yinzer that question as he threw his wrappings from the sandwiches he ate into the creek.  His answer was to tell me to do something that was physically impossible.

Preaching to the choir by posting here. The responsible parties won't see the message because they most likely can't read.

However, as stated before, probably teenagers who need a father's boot up their backsides.

Like I previously posted. I was just asking if any of you head to the area, Please take something to help clean up. With my schedule. It may be a spell before I an get back there. When I am able to make my next outing.   I will make it a point to go to that spot. I will have a bag to go. Hopefully it will be gone by then. Thanks

The tough part there is 1) if you're doing a stream cleanup, in most tribs, you won't get a lot of fishing done, and 2) there's a lot of trash that washes down from who knows where.  No doubt slob anglers do their part, but I highly doubt that some mupere discarded the top of a rack for retail clothing on upper 20 last weekend.

If I see something blatant, I'll grab it; last weekend, I saw someone had left a half-full (or half-empty) cup of McDuck's coffee on a rock, probably forgotten over a screaming drag that led them downstream, and it was an hour later, if ever, that they thought, "Where's my coffee?".  It was clearly left there recently, and an obvious thing, so I dumped the coffee and packed the cup out.  Not a big deal, but at the same time, I don't feel compelled to do that, and I don't expect others to do it (clean someone else's trash up) either.  Would it be nice, though?  Sure.

I try to always have a bag with me for that to and I will bring out the bags of trash but I still feel bad when I drop one little thing that blows to where I can not get it.

You are 100% correct. Odds are most of the garbage you see in and around the tribs like that comes from disrespectful young adults. AKA teen brats. Ive chased some of em out a few years back. Realizing once I left they would be back so I contacted the local authorities and sent them down there. I stuck around to watch them scatter like coockarachas when the lights come on.

When I was a local teen, we would take our garbage with us so if our secret drinking spot was discovered, it would only look like someone was camping there. Rarely would the cops bust our crik parties.

Speaking aout "collecting trash".  Quite a few years ago I was fishing along a stretch of creek and I was collecting trash since I always carried a small garbage bag in case I wanted to keep a fish.  As I was moving down stream and I had just finished rolling up about 70 feet of mono with a lure still attached (?)  a fisherman who had been watching me signaled me to come over to him.  Expecting to be thanked for picking up the trash, I was stunned when he proceeded to clean out his vest pockets and hand the trash to me.  Guess it was better than him throwing it out along the creek.
