Tubes Update

To make things clear, I have never fished the tubes nor do I ever plan to, but the insanity around this topic has peaked my interest. Your 8 page long bashing spout of the landowner, bait shop and anyone else not agreeing with you made me realize that I had to do some investigating myself. So here are the facts I gathered.

The reason it was posted – Thank you White Death:
“The reason the land was posted is based on a couple of instances experienced by the landowner. First, he had a couple of unpleasant encounters with steelhead fishermen on his own property. This set the stage for combustion to eventually occur. What started the fire and ultimate posting of the property was the landowner was apparently recently cited for a trespassing violation by parking his car, along with a couple of friends, on the adjacent property which is posted. According to my reliable first hand source the owner had a hand shake agreement with the nursery owner to access his land through their property. From what I gather the land in question is landlocked or quasi inaccessible. All landowners have a right to access their property whether landlocked or not. The party responsible for the citation was the Pennsylvania Game Commission, not Fish and Boat, and it apparently went to court. The fines ended up standing and were around $180 for each person. This broke the back of the property owner and triggered the posting, so the story goes. If this is correct it is actually shameful. Not that anyone is above the law but it seems common sense and law enforcement discretion was not applied. This is what I was told anyway. None-the-less I can’t blame the landowner.”

Additionally, in recent years, rumor has it that some of the neighboring landowners were given hefty sums by the state for their stream property, yet the state decided to stiff this landowner who arguably had the nicest property for fishing.

I am on the side of the owner, and would do the same after those incidents. In other words, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you”.

What happened next:
The landowner was fed up with all the shenanigans and posted the property, rightfully so in my opinion. Apparently afterwards there was a change of heart and the landowner asked if Trout Run B & C would tend to the property and use it for their needs, be that guiding or private fishing etc. It is not known if and how many other shops/groups were asked the same question, but if Trout Run wouldn’t take he was to move to the next shop.
Trout Run B & C accepted the offer, and everyone jumped down their throat. Honestly, I would have done the same if the option was to have it posted and given to someone else or let me fish it. Trout Run B & C did not want to police the property and chase people away, so the landowner leased the property to a 3rd party NOT “Trout Run B & C”.

Current Situation and some great news:
Landowner is working with Trout Run B & C, the lessee and others on making the water fishable for special groups such as:
-       Disabled
-       Veterans
-       Mentoring Program
-       Wounded Warrior
-       And a few others I did not catch

These are phenomenal ideas and I am hopeful that something positive is coming out of this. After all, there is no ease of access aside from the wall and we all know how much fun the wall is. Enabling those with needs to hit the creeks we were privileged to enjoy for years would be a great deed. Also, the wounded warrior is a great facet, as I am familiar with the project in Syracuse called Healing Waters that works with Veterans on the Salmon River and does some amazing things.
One of the items that needs to be addressed is access to this property for the disabled, elderly and wounded. A grant would be the ultimate solution, so let’s show some support to these people who are working to make this happen and stop bashing them.

So you have as much knowledge of that post as you do the section of stream in question.... thanks for clearing that up!

rumors eh?  i thought you were here with your 1st post  to "clear things up"

The women at TR B&T told many people something completely different

so let’s show some support to these people who are working to make this happen and stop bashing them.

good luck
working to make what happen? Pretty sure local PHWFF wants nothing to do with this (as mentioned in the other thread)
these are the same people, who a week ago were trying to turn this into a pay to fish section

The land got posted... no one faults the land owner
a "3rd party" and TR B&T were going to be making $$ off it..... thats what ****ed people off
TR B&T saw how this caused people to be ****ed and tried attacking people and then backed off..... toooooo late

personally (and I'm sure many others) will never spend a dime at TR B&T and will tell anyone they know to follow suit

I could care less about the property lines of that section, which is not the point of my post. I am trying to find a solution, which you seem to oppose during every post in that 8 page rampage.
If you talked to the lady at the shop why didn't you inform us of what she said?

Your pretty sure is pretty useless since all you do is assume things.

You can continue to jump down the throat of every poster on here or maybe work to make this piece of property available for those in need or those who are fighting for your freedom. It's up to you.

Here is my question. Does the property run up to and include the tubes or stop just downstream. I always thought the tubes themselves and directly above was nursery owned and open to the public including an approved parking area. Also wouldn't the tubes themselves be railroad property?

I could care less about Trout Run B&C or any other bait shop.
I do however care about the access possibilities, having many veteran friends who could benefit from this.

or... raise concern when people are doing things i don't agree with or (in your case) people making rambling posts filled with [b****/b]umptions

open it up to only vets/disabled... make it kids only
AWESOME IDEAS.... but honestly that will only increase angler traffic to the area, which is against the property owner's intent for posting
 cool..... got for it

But don't paint TR B&T and this "3rd party" to be "good guys".... because the are not

Okay just one thought here: How much do you want for the Trout Run bait shop? It is obvious that this is going to end badly and social media and word of mouth will put this place out of business in the near future. Your only option is to sell now at a fair price and cut your losses. Maybe new ownership will be smarter when it comes to getting involved in these pay for fishing issues. However, the damage is done and it is time to move on and maybe try another line of work. Welcome to the internet age and just like a spot burn this issue is not going to go away.

So you 1. purposely changed names because you are scared of people somehow knowing your "true identity?"  and 2. are ok with private guiding a publicly funded resource, pay to play and spitefully withholding access?  Yeah, sounds like your motives are pure!!!!!

I have fished with many of you before during the one fly as well as other places.... so I suggest not to throw rock if you live in a glass house.

My mission is very simple, make more stream access available for the disabled and the vets. Do I agree with all the actions that occurred with this property, NO! But dwelling on it will not help make anything happen. So you either keep dwelling on the past or move towards helping the ones with needs.

a regular here??
"Skip"???

I  think what might of been your first mistake (and why you got jumped)
was your mention of "facts"
but what  appears  to be "he said/she said"

then mentioned "rumors"

and finally,  "speculation" on what some might "possibly" like to do

and you had to start a new thread repeating 90% of what someone already said???
the only thing new was the speculation of privileges to  select groups

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt , have you personally talked to the land owner and the lessee?

Wow 18,000 views later  and still going.
Baddabing all you accomplished with post is moving the topic to a different title.
You simply repeated what has already been stated and then threw in the SPECIAL ACCESS for ...thing.
If they really wanna make it for kids disabled vets that would be nice but sounds like hearsay'
I like fishing the tubes but the stretch below them isn't that great most of the time.
Its simply the fact that we keep losing fishing spots and the theme behind it is $$$$$$.
Times are changing I think we all get it but that doesn't mean we gunna lik it.
TRB&T made a choice without thinking about the consequences IMO-
Landowner I am not upset with at all but face it if you own creek front property it comes with some headaches it is was it is.
Too busy with work and looking to spend time in the deer stand won't be out to the creeks for a while but will keep checking in here
sometimes I laugh, sometimes I just shake my head ,and every once in a while I learn sumtin' ....

Baddabing sounds like you're the troll...Seriously, with all this BS, is anyone catching any fish? I was out today hoping that yesterday's rain would work its magic, but I only brought one to hand after covering a lot of water. Saw only one other fish given the brown stain, bumped a few others but was expecting much more. I thought 2013 was supposed to be epic?

If it was Skip, he would of never said "I am familiar with a program in Syracuse called Healing Waters"  We have an Erie chapter duuud, maybe you should get involved.

This whole post sounds like a explanation to get Trout Run Bait's business back. You can say it will get used for vets and kids and what not to cover things up, when I see it, I'll believe it. There is a small group of local guys that have done more for the Vets around here in one day's time that this property would provide in years.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

I've seen the common man in Erie and Pulaski and I don't want to fish with them either.  I am quite happy to pay to play.  The problem with Erie is that the streams are ditches compared to New York.  Erie can't even compare to the Cleveland area tribs.  I think Ohio is missing out by not stocking more.

The problem with pay to play, is the price never goes down. Down the road, it can be like across the BIG pond where only the man who is really well off can fish or hunt. Driven pheasant hunts and "beats" on the salmon rivers. Even here, leases for hunting land is the norm in many states.Kinda sad to see more of our heritige eroding away...WF...heck, the last time I looked, I was kinda common.

don't be a chowderhead, Chartie.
No one (with  any sense) wants Ohio to become so crowded  as  Erie or NY.
and that's exactly what would happen...so go on to pay to play places if you need fish in a bucket at your feet

or hire one of the top Ohio guides if you can't catch fish here
