Circus stories
Since its that time of years it may be interesting to tell some 'Circus' stories. Two reasons- First to get it off our chest and clear out a frustration or two Second ( most important) perhaps some newbies will see the light and learn what is NOT correct SR behavior. Was at a spot last week fishing a pocket at the top of a small run near the bank. Fish were occasionally running up the little run and stopping in the pocket where I could get a few passes of the fly before they ran up again. Two guys came outa the woods and walked right into the run knee deep and started casting way out. They were about 20 feet below me and stopped all fish activity. Eventually they appeared to be permanently locked into the spot so I told them they were inhibiting the fish and asked them to move-I advised fish were trying to run right where they were standing. They looked at me like I was from Mars and stayed put. RUDE IDIOTS Watching the 'web cam' yesterday saw a guy walk into the river and stand a few feet below and out from a fella who had been drifting right where this guy decided to stand.. Another rude IDIOT.

Fishing the lower fly zone 2 years ago me and at the time 10 year old son. We got up at zero dark thirty to get the spot we wanted, fished it for the first 30 minutes landed a few kings my son lands his second one I help him unhook and release and turn around and there is a guy right where he was standing. Granted we can all get along but taking a spot of a kid come on. I said something and got a attitude from him. He left after a few minutes once he seen other people catching and then pushed in on them. The walks right in the middle of the transitional waters and fishes the hole and blocks a bunch of us out. Thats a good way to make some friends if you know what I mean by the time the morning was done he peeed almost everyone off.

Just a general observation.....just because you have waders it does n't mean you have to wade in to your nuts and then cast way over to the other side across the main current and seam creating a belly and drag on your line! When you do that you are standing in the very spot you should be fishing.

well this was after the Circus left town but I still get a kick.. It was 2 years ago on a very chilly Nov morning in "my" secret spot.. Pull in the lot at 5 something am, yea still dark I know but there was 1 car there and our hearts began to sink.. So we walk in and there are 2 guys , 1 is pounding beers and the other seemed straight sober.. After chatting with the sober guy he said they let their home at midnight to be at that spot by 5am.. His buddy drank all the way up while he drove.. I asked if he was cool with rotating through the run so everyone could have a chance at fishing different water.. Well that didn't go well and he wanted to fish "here".. Ok I said so we walked a bit above him and waited till light.. Still dark we hear this huge SPLASH !! Yup the drunk guy fell in.. So back to the car he stumbles, light comes and everyone starts fishing.. The guy in the prime spot catches a fish and his buddy shows up again with dry clothes but wet waders on.. He wobbles down the bank and wasn't 2 mins and SPLASH !! He is swimming with the fishes.. This time I say to his buddy, "you better take him to the motel before he gets hypothermia" He agreed , they left and we had a blast fishing the rest of the day.. Now next day we show up to the same spot , first in the lot and get our spot.. While later, 3 guys come dow.. The same 2 but with a guide this time.. Go figure... Now I walk over to the guys , reach in my pack and ask the still hung over guy if he wanted a beer (holding 1 out)... He started dry heaving and headed to the woods puking.. The guide wasn't to impressed and asked if we would rotate the run, just as I asked the day before.. I said sure but rotating means moving not staying planted in there all day.. No problem he said.. Well we rotated with the sober guy and all caught fish.. The hung over guy went back to the car and slept till about 10 am then walked down and said he needed to go back to the motel.. They left.. What a GREAT way to spend a bunch of time and $$$ to fish the SR is all I can say..

But the beer tastes so much better up there! Great story, Tuna! LOL Griz used to regularly cast behind the conga line at the meadow and extract fish to illustrate that the middle of the river was NOT the place to be standing. L13

Tuna- GREAT--wish I was there- Was up by the Vines coupla years back in late Oct and had a large humpy back hook jawed 'big green' male on--a boat was coming down real slow with one guy on the oars- no fishermen. Fella up from me shouts 'cut it off- Warden in the boat'. Kept up the fight-- Fella start running down my way - no more yellin -the boats gettin closer- 'cut the line- cut it offfff -WARDEN IN THE BOAT"--kept fightin and said 'its OK'. Fella gets right next to me and loudly whispers as the boat came by 'break it OFFFF thats a WARDENNNNNN'. Warden looked down at the fish as he passed - looked over my way and nodded. C&R- took a very small blue sac. Some will NEVER believe they bite- but the guy meant well.

the funniest is when a guy on one side hooks a fish, it runs into a line on the other side, they both have way too heavy line on...they argue, fuss fight and in the mean time the fish is hanging mid air as they pull for all they are worth

watched a guy at the black hole fishing the fat water on the steep side last year. He had on a ton of weight and it looked like 20 pound test. He got snagged. when his line broke the split shots came flying back and hit him in the nuts. Doubled him right over. The only thing better was that he did it again about an hour later. I yelled over "You better start wearing a cup". He waved and headed out. That had to hurt pretty bad. CP
