New guy with some Tackle questions
Hello,
I've been lurking around the boards for a month or 2 and finally decided to join. I've been trout fishing and bass fishing in local ponds for years. I am not new to fishing to say but I've been and want to start doing more fishing around in local streams and rivers. My question is what is some basic lures i should have to target bass and other fish? I have some basic plastic baits. But other then that what else should i have in my tackle box. I currently run cabelas pro guide spinning reels. and want to start using a bait caster ordered a Shimano Caius just waiting for it to get delivered I plan on using braid on it.
Any help would be appreciated.

If your running braid on the bait caster, use at least 50lb to reduce digging into the spool. Get some tubes in green and brown type colors and some 3 and 4" twist tail grubs in white and chartreuse. 1/8 through 3/8 jig heads should cover all your basic fishing conditions, get a few different colors.

It would have to be preetty standard to have some sort of stick bait (rapala, yo zuri, etc).
I'm a big fan of panther martin spinners.

Depending on the size you are going for Husky Jerks Xraps and Original Floating minnows work well for all species, I prefer Joes Flies and Meeps spinners 0-2 for trout.

my go to for bass, June Bug colored Zoom soft bait. Followed by a 4 " black and chartreuse curly tail grub

Not sure what happened to my post, but here's the gist of what I submitted that never showed up:
Bass:
Rapalas: Original, Shad-rap, Husky Jerk, and X-rap...usually for colors...it's the ones I think won't work.
Plastics: Tequila Sunrise 7" power worms, tubes in white and crawfish, chartreuse twist tail grubs, zoom flukes, and 2.5-3" gulp minnows for drop shotting.
Trout:
Rooster Tails: Black, White, Yellow, Chartreuse, and Rainbow Trout (with the sticker peeled off the blade)
Rapalas: Smallest size original floating, in fairly natural colors (shad, olive, the trout colors, etc.)
Pin Minnows: Small and shiny
Trout Magnets: White, Black, Mealworm Gold, Pink, Mint Green, and the Clear ones w/ glitter. Really, though, I could get by on just the white ones with silver heads.

In rivers:
Red and white or black jitterbug
Buzz baits
Blue and silver Lil Cleos
If you don't know what size you want to use go with something in the middle.
Mepps spinners in streams

Thanks everyone for the help. I will try the suggested, for trout i have my grandfathers old mepps spinners with them and the live bait i've allways had good luck with them. I was more curious for rivers and large lakes for bass. Thanks for the starting point.

does anyone still use texas rigs/and or, carolina rigs for LM. with a 6-8inch worm?? I havent fished for LM in years but that was what i always had the most success with. motor oil or grape.

The 7" power worms in tequila sunrise I mentioned were always on one of those two. I used a lot of texas, carolina, and drop shot before I went 98% fly.

when i use tube worms, i always texas rig them. works on both smallmouf and largemouf.

Trout: rooster tails in chartreuse, black, white and rainbow trout.
trout magnets in whatever colors because they are pretty cheap.
joe's flies in black gnat and the green ones.
Bass: swim baits (soft).
hula popper
crank baits
Panfish: trout magnets and Berkley Power wigglers.
