Garage sale find

Today was our towns annual garage sale.   I got a 3/4  cheepo fly rod/reel  and 2  Mitchell ultra lights  rods/reels  for 15$,  all in good serviceable shape .   Also got a box with some fly tying material and other stuff for $5   15 spools of thread, bobbin, dubbing tool, some hooks  and 10 spools/boxes  of   mono of various weights Stren, Trilene and spider wire,  some new never opened.         Also got a bait box for free and  6 pairs of cross country skis and poles   for $2.   Going to make ice fishing sleds out of the skis that are junk.   Wading sticks out of the poles that are bad.    Might be 2 sets that are good for me and the wife.
Tomorrow the swap meet/ flea market

  Good scores

Nice find Clint particularly the fly tying stuff and the Mitchell reels.  If I'd venture to guess on how much I've spent on hooks, threads, dubbing, synthetic materials, vises, necks and saddles, deer/elk hair, duck feathers, tools, etc it would be well over a grand, maybe two.  A lifetime of collecting materials that would take five lifetimes to use.

Gerry I have a feeling I will be in the same boat.   I know I have have more than a few hundred tied up in materials.   My next purchase will probably be a nicer vice.   I have said this before, I get alot of satisfaction out of tying.  It's like every fly could be "the one "

Got the stuff cleaned up and put away and I did quite well.   The reels/rods were nothing really special, probably $20-30 combos when new.   There was at least $20 in thread/wire/ tinsel   a few odd duck feathers and hooks  and the tools,  bottom of the line, but serviceable.      Was just looking at a very similar combo the other day and came close to buying it

If I might make a recommendation on a vise that I have had since I started tying, its called the Zuron vise.
The standard model is virtually bullet proof and relatively low cost.  Google it on the web.
