Here ya go--fishing report

Arrived late at night to my favored motel/hotel and upon rising and getting to my car in the early AM I found a note on the wiper saying 'you shoulda been here yesterday'
There were seventeen 'guide reports' attached all saying 'call ME' and reporting the best year ever to date.
Also was attached a page of tackle shop reports indicating that even kids with no experience carrying Salt water gear were limiting out in minutes.
Ninety seven fly and egg patterns in a variety of makes and sizes were listed on another page as being THE HOT patterns.
Got to the river and found it was completely frozen over from top to bottom with about a foot of packed snow on top.
 Good trip-  lol.

I WAS  there yesterday.  It said that yesterday's yesterday was the day to have been there yesterday, unless you were there yesterday.
If it wasn't for some reports  from real people on the real conditions- thanks Clint, Dime, Lucky, 2B and some of the others like bear and sarge- I wouldn't bother.

Jack thanks for the push but I will say, it took a little getting used to, to get the mojo flowing:
Picked the wife up a kayak and of course I had to take a test run before letting her drown..lol
The sport creek was the destination (my back yard) and stripers were the target (yea right)..
Water was cold,Cold, COLD !! Debris not too bad , YET..
A few eager motor boats passed me on the Mighty Hudson but for the most part pretty desolate..
Found 2 fish that wanted to play.. One wasn't happy,  the other got free on his own accord..

    Report:
Looking at at least another 2 weeks for the stripers and lets hope no spring blow outs..
Will be hitting the water daily even if it means just getting any tug on the line..

The coldest most pale smallie I can remember:
This puppy was hugging the bottom as the belly shows..

Managed to get out with the family late day... not a fish bit at all... took two rods and mostly let the wife and kids fish. Saw a massive steelhead fighting to jump a gushing waterfall... was enough to get the adrenaline running...the kids loved it. Scenery was beautiful, air temp was around forty... not a soul in sight except the wide open sky and a silo in the distance... was in altmar earlier (not to fish) probably around 80 vehicles from lfz to pineville

Rt, i guess i shouldve been there yesterday

Tuna, you are the definition of "fish head"

HT, even this dink gave me a good ride in a harbor in NH. I have caught one in the 15 lb. range in the yak, besides a slough of schoolies.    7 weeks til I get a shot at stripers  The yak is going to get used a lot this spring. Nancy was paddling in this pic- sometimes it's very clear to me  why they call tandem yaks "divorce boats".  It's better  the wife   paddles her own course and goes what speed she likes.  I've been after walleyes and pike, but so far just a few misses. Maybe this week  with a sinking line at  a turbine outflow.
You'll be racking up tons of smallies and stripes soon. Good luck.
