Trevor, another tragedy in Conn......Not fishing related.
Was that double homicide/suicide near you? I can't believe they knew the woman had a gun and was mentally unstable and allowed her to pick up those poor kids alone. What the hell is this world coming to?

In a State with some of the strictest anti gun laws in the country and pending newer stricter legislation by the Legislature and the Governor this kinda stuff just never stops feeding the frenzy. Crazy people are gonna do in our way of life. Then there will still be crazy people. Amazing that School officials can expel a 5 year pointing a finger like a gun or stop that kid from wearing the Marine t-shirt with a picture of an AR on it but cant figure out a nutso Granny. Makes ya wonder who the Crazies are sometimes. Am in the center of Ct which is a small Sate so its always near me. Been looking for some new Deer grounds and we require written permission from the landowner- its startin to get tough out there with all the hype goin on . They know your not gonna do anything bad but are all scardey cat lately bout giving permission for guns on their properties. Might go and puke now...

Tuna- havent read the whole 'new deal' in Ny yet. Just some highlights. Much was the way it already is here in CT. Actually there was little that Obama suggested that has not been the rule here for some time. That said I fear black guns and clip requirements will be severely restricted in most places..Ny wont be alone. Our Gov is trying to initiate new restrictions here because the Legislatures panel is taking too long- they are having public 'words over it too -lol. Gun controll laws arent all that idiotic when time is taken to really look into facts VS hype. Ny gun folks got really screwed IMHO cause your reps did one of the quickest knee jerks in the whole country- chalk one up for the antis. I LOVED it when the NY clip capacity eliminated all the PD clips overnight. NY back stepped saying the Cops were not included in the legislation. Then nobody could find a provision saying that- lol. idiots. Would really like to hear some of your particulars since I am on the verge of getting my' Homeland Security' retired cop pistol permit . Unlike a regular State permit which may or may not be reciprocal ( in NY and Mass. my Ct State permit is no good so I'm landlocked) its Nationally recognized by virtue of the Federal laws but ya gotta go by local restrictions when moving around. Also interested in particular rifle or Muzzel restrictions when going hunting up to my place. State by State its gonna likely be a real mess for law abiding Hunters moving around in the future. Ct for example has had a background check law for years. Gotta wait days if you want a gun. The only exception is if you have a Ct pistol permit- with that your background is considered already done and you can buy and carry. Trapping- boating-bow hunting - gun hunting -all require completion of a State course of a few days each to participate in. Pistol permits also require much further background checking and and course participation. Our clip size limits were 'twilighted' in the old law and have come back to large clips but are most certainly likely to mirror the Ny restrictions soon. The next generation will NOT be able to do what we do the way we do it.

Adolf Cuomo has announced that they will roll back the ban on assault weapons for movie companies that want to come to NY and make films that need the firearms for realism. Perfect setup for a national NRA Boycott, if it is made in NYS and has restricted firearms, do not pay to see the film. L13

Would hate for this or any other thread to turn into another forum on Gun control. Basically we all generally feel the same and it becomes just a sounding board for our communal frustration. Kinda preaching to the Choir stuff. I am as big a violator in this regard as most anyone and am trying to limit my posts on the subject lately. A similar thread on another Forum has gone on for about 63 pages lol. Of course outstanding issues pertaining to the subject can be informative to all and IMHO are well worth noting. An example is the 'workmens comp' thing thats now gaining momentum on behalf of the Newtown workers. Can one just imagine the gross National impact should any worker with 'issues' pertaining to on the job nasties end up with long term therapy or even pensions for life as the result. Might guess that since life aint perfect many many folks have a bad memory or two from work ( I certainly do) but some will 'push it' for the benefit if it isnt drafted well. A knee jerk law could really be costly to Town Cities States in the long term. Face it-- with some jobs your just gonna see bad poop- ya know that goin in. By the way-- Startin to think NY City runs the whole state of NY.

Yikes now you got my blood pressure up. I have had 3 fatalities and 7 very serious career ending injuries in my time of employment here. We do some pretty heavy duty stuff and know well it's a dangerous environment but would never come to work expecting injury because that's the nature of the beast. Twice a year , every year we have federal mine inspectors come to inspect our facility. It's federal regulation and mandatory . We get hammered each time. Every serious injury or event must be reported to the federal agencies and they respond right away with an investagation team. Tell you what , in most every case the company gets cited and found at negelant .. Not always but 9 times out of 10.
Enought of this B.S. I'm ready to pack the bags and hit the ice

Trevor, Talk about biting the hand that feeds. Connecticut has enough financial problems. They are only going to compound the problem if the gun industry leaves the state.

Yes- I never agreed with that position in Ct which is called the 'Armory of the US' because of all our firearm manufacturers. That changed for me last week when Colt shut down and entire shift and bussed all the workers to the Capitol building for a demo by employees . Real big message there. They are presently calling for confiscation ,after a short grace period, here of anything 'capable ' of 10 rounds or more- pistols and long guns. 'Capable' is a big word cause the press reported nothing bout plugs and altered magazines. Or for that matter stuff on the market that could add capability to a gun initially sold with a lesser capacity- like an extended shotgun tube or magazine. which could easily alter initial capabilities. Gotta read between some lines with these folks. AGENDAS. EX- an Ar with a 5 shot mag is still on the illegal list because of capabilities. The Gov said No confiscation- he wants each gun registered. Probably some twisted logic where he thinks that makes him on 'our' side. Said that they will allow manufacturers to continue making the guns even though they will be illegal to own or sell here. . That hasnt gotten any good words from the manufacturers . Seems the State tried to have it both ways but nobody is falling for it. $$$$ Never thought owning Dads old .22 semi would make me a crook in this Country. Startin to wonder if those I previously thought were 'out there' with ravings bout complete Govt confiscation are all that wrong. Gonna be a close call on some stuff here. "one small step"------- ( never in my life did I even consider a time where I would think like this here in the US)

When our new Secretary of State, John Kerry, voices his support of the UN ban on firearms you have to wonder where it will lead. Another strike against the Constitution and the 2nd amendment.

Imagine if they used this same philosophy with cars- Nothing allowed that is 'capable' of speeds over 65. Then go further by deciding which ones 'look fast' --lol. Yep-If reports are correct - keep the .45 with the 8 shot mag and give up the .22 with the 10 shot mag. Big thinkers came up with this stuff lol Hey wait a minute- this is the Sate with the largest per capita debt in the nation. Larger even than the oft mentioned one in Cal. What the heck did I expect----------

Even if this stuff does not get passed and some watered down version does the message for the future is there. Handwriting on the wall--- After a lifetime of Public Service -which continues even now right here-- Wife and I discussed Texas or the Carolinas last night. Never in my wildest dream did I ever expect to consider this. Real discussion bout moving away from friends and family based on continued FREE lifestyle.. Of course I could become a backdoor criminal and just continue on - many many will do just that and hope the Supreme Court changes things before they get caught. Or simply not give a $hit anymore. I hear more shots from Poachers out back every Fall than the couple of permit holders. No licenses - no seasons- no orange clothing -no half hour before or after sunset- no regs at all and no gun restrictions----thinkin about it.

Hang onto those guns,we may need them to go to DC to take our freedom back from the socialists.Sounds drastic, but it might come to that. And screw their control laws, how are they going to enforce them when they can't keep the guns from the criminals.

If somebody actually had the funding and manpower ( none do but 'cherry picking' examples and making publicized arrests would have impact)) to sit back and research manufacturers and Store sales lists for the past they could come up with ownership of non conforming guns- If ya tellem ya sold it they would ask for the required transfer forms and ya would get pinched with or without the gun or that form for non compliance. If your gun was bought VERY long ago or came down through the family or was just bought from - 'hey you' or somebody who has passed on - you will likely skirt the records. Unless 'hey you' knows who you are and is approached. We commonly did those searches when I was L/E and they came back pretty quick with the help of ATF however a huge influx of requests would boggle the system. YES-- your actual purchase records already exist- Nationally- Part of the license requirement for dealers is to keep and record and submit those records.- Guns are easily tracked from place of origin to dealer to buyer -- Hence my pooh poohing those NO record keeping arguments we hear of so much with background checks. If the sale has been recorded for decades now -its late in the game to argue bout the background check leading to that sale lol. Old news.

Well- the roller coaster ride here in Ct over gun control continues- This week the State finally came out with some long awaited particulars on Sandy Hook- featuring numbers on ammo and guns seized from the Nuts home ,car and person. Great timing ???? Geee I wonder how that happened ??? The harsh Ct gun bill comes up in the legislature next week. Gotta wonder how that mandated 'turning in' of some guns will go ??? Its in all the papers- some with several related articles on the same thing complete with all the antis having another go round with their agendas. Most papers are giving no press at all to the gun owner side. Its a free for all ,pile on one side party seemingly well orchestrated to influence State reps voting next week. I fear we legit, honest gun owners are in for a very rough time here. Some of us may well become overnight crooks for the first time in our lives. Hope common sense prevails but there is a nagging sensation that tells me to toss that thought- lol.

Am TRIPLE posting here- frustration is running very deep. Ct Legislature has proudly announced the harshest gun laws in the US. THEIR proud bi-patrisan words. Over 160 guns outright illegal those and Clip registrations mandated and some kinda ID will be needed to purchase ammo. Also appears many more rifles will be illegal based upon ' any ONE' of a variety of design features. Details will be made more public however those are a few of the wonderful things already 'outed' on the law they announced yesterday and will certainly pass Wed. Gonna be 'insta crooks' all over the state -violations are to be a FELONY. Said they had to 'send a message' since Sandy Hook happened here. One may well predict mass evacuation of manufacturers as well as some sportsmen and avid shooters.-Another kinda 'message'.

OK am now Quadra posting --lol News reports today that the FIRST gun manufacturer is leaving Ct. because of draconian new gun legislation. Looking at Texas and taking their employees with them. Two more much larger companies on the bubble. Also reported is one of our Senators is scheduled to give an Anti gun speech on the Senate floor . It begins--- Still wondering if my Muzzel loader is illegal cause it has a scarey looking thumbhole stock.
