First outing of 2008

I got the family out today for a visit to the local fly shop and a little fishing/feeding the Ducks.

Looked to be a great family outing.  What a beautiful town.  It looks like a postcard.  What is the name of the town?  I'll be in Centre County this spring and would like to tour the area.

Boiling Springs. Cumberland County. It's a good fishing destination.
Check out Yellow Breeches Outfitters web site. They should have all kinds of info., or drop me a line if you swing around.

Went to the upper upper J today.  Caught some nice rainbows.  Water was just above 40*.  Surprising number of people fishing the J on the lower end.  It was up but fishable around the church.  Around 350 or so.

Went to Spruce and caught one of Beaver's ****bos.

I almost deleted that one, but I thought it would be a cool closing pic.. I like those things, and their hair.
SK- no pics? Come on guys- I need to see some fish porn!
Glad you got a bunch, but you guys catching alot of fish is the norm I've learned. I don't think I could hang. Glad I'm past the numbers thing (as most here are).

    Salmo,

You made my heart jump looking at your pics, I knew right away that was Boiling Springs! It is so gorgeous there, that I wanted to move there but could not convince the better half just due the facts of the grandkids...lol. I stayed at a Bed n Breakfast there right on the Springs, can't remember the name but it was big and white and old and was going through restorations about 6 to 7 years ago. A professor from the Univeristy of Illinois had a office there for his private company and I was visiting him, it was very difficult for me to leave. I am glad you all had a great day and a great time and thanks so much for sharing the pics!

Still remodeling I think. LOL. It changed owners a year, or 2 ago if I'm not mistaken.
I moved here for the fishing- was only 20 min. away, but now I'm right where I want to be. I had no trouble convincing my wife. She's from around the Big Spring & is as awe struck at the Spring Creeks as I am. She is starting to fish again (kids are growing), but she's a little rusty.

I'm not much of a camera carrier Sal.  Come to think of it, I STILL haven't received some pics of some skamanias from 2004 from a friend.  Don't think I'll be getting them at this point.  REALLY want them.  I think I'm headin' to Erie tomorrow.  I'll try to get some pics on my cell phone.  It takes excellent pics.

    salmotrutta,
I don't have many photos other than a few steelhead, and I have no idea how to post them anyway lol. I live in schuylkill county which is really in south eastern pa. but hardly anyone ever posts on that forum. I fished yellow breeches once 10-12 years ago. Have you ever fished clarks creek?

There are pictures of the Drake with fish available, but none with the "ghost" pheasant.

I was out this morning. Fished the fly fishing only section of the little schuylkill. Had one but lost it on a copper john. Maybe it's my imagination, or age, or maybe it's from sitting around inside too much the past few weeks, but it sure seemed cold today.

I fished this afternoon. It was colder. I didn't do well. There's a front on the wat. I'm getting a migrane. Maybe the fish get them too?

Yes, trutta, I guess you could say fish get a bit abnormal.  During dramatic fluctuations of barometric pressure, a fish's equilibrium becomes very unbalanced.  It's said that they feel like they're drunk.   Feeding will usually cease.  A front coming in will cause the barometer change.

forgot.. I do have pics from erie but when I send them to my email by phone, they're not coming thru correctly.  Not sure what's going on.

I can go without the bite, but I wish there were a cure for these migraines.

    salmotrutta,
You May have a pinched nerve in your neck around C-5 > C-7  Since I had my accident I was having all kinds of headaches and once they numbed the nerve the aches diminished.  I still get impact pain but no "change of the weather" pain.  Check with your Dr.,  Have an MRI, or have a MaRtinI.  Self administering nerve blocks is not a good idea.

I would think that sinus issues would be a more likely cause. A visit to an eye, ear, and snout doctor might provide some insight to possible relief.

No dice there chucker. Wish there was an answer, but the cause of migraines is unknown. I had CT of my head and all that years ago. My dad, Sister & Brother also get them. I mostly get them with a big front approaching. I can be laid up for a day before a storm approaches, and when the rain/snow falls it's like a shot of morphene. Upper Level Low's are the worst. I eat quite a few pills when that happens.
Anyhow at least there's meds to help some now. It wasn't too aweful long ago there was nothing. Excedrin was a god send, but is hard on the stomach.
Vicodin & Asprin is nice when I have the Vicodin.

Maybe it is alien radio transmissions. Try an aluminum foil hat.

Or MORE vicodin so you can translate the messages.
