Today there's more fishers than fish .... the said fish are either hiding under brush piles or have left on stringers . Next time fish when it's 20 degrees out then you might have a CHANCE : ) The creeks won't handle October pressure in January and this should be expected or prepare to be disappointed .

Pondbear , You may have to do a lot more walking this time of year to find a few pods of fish. Also They could be anywhere as well. Down low or up high , maybe in between , You just have to explore to find some. They are there somewhere. If it was me looking for fish this time of year , Id be starting somewhere in the middle and go south , but thats just me. I havent been out in 3 weeks so Id be searching for them as well. Good luck

theres fish to be had landed over 20 fish tues. on elk - the fish as deetz said have had 5 months to move so they are spread out over hundreds of holes. the thing i like to do at this time of year is hit and run fishing where i don't stay in one hole for more than one hour.

How is he talking to him like a two year old? He told him where he would start if he was going. What else would you like him to say? I thought it was a pretty helpful and informative post, but that's just me.
Pondbear, I would go as high as you think there would be fish and then just look for deep holes. The fish will be there.

I fished this past Saturday. The fish are surprisingly harder to see than expected. MANY places that I could not see them but they are there. (just enough tint in the water to help them hide and they are not moving at all)
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I think it was a pretty lean year for slimers. I went up once in what should have been prime time and only saw a very few, and only managed to catch one, in two days of fishing. After that, I decided I'd rather not shoot ducks than not catch slimers.

Pondbear It sounds like you will have to pre scout Elk Creek in a few areas before you bring your Dad. If your Dad is in poor health or up in years naturally you want to keep the walk down to a minimum. I also hope your story is true and your not trying to gain personal info favors.Your best bet is to make a few stops and fish and hope you hit a area with a pod of fish and get your Dad up soon. I have not been up for some time or I would tell you a good area for him. I would start at Platz Rd. area, hit the Legion area, Girard Park on down. You will have to be his legs and put in the time. I have done the same in the past for others and have always found fish for them to catch the next day. Good luck!

Thanks guys as I really appreciate the info but didn't see but a dozen fish and 6 where on stringers at the nut.We fished from above the Mckean hole,Sterittania,Girard Boro Park, and the rest of the way down.I climbed, walked and searched and only seen 3 fish that had lock jaw.Oh well, hopefully next year Mother Nature puts some water in the tribs in early fall. The past two falls have been extremely dry.Tight Lines and thanks again!
