Ice on the Creeks for the weekend.

I was planning on coming up for the weekend.  Weather looks like it is pretty cold in the Erie area.  Can I expect ice on the crreks in the morning?

My prediction is the creeks will get some ice tomorrow night. Tomorrow during the day should be fishable.

Lake effect will be starting Sat night and will continue all week/ with temps not getting out of mid 20's for a high and lows in the teens..  This weekend will be the last chance to fish for a little while...

I noticed on the flow chart that the water level seemed to really spike. Was all that caused by a quarter inch of rain over eight hours or was it some type of water/ice anomaly that I'm not familiar with? Any feed back would be appreciated.

Ice and Snow cause spikes in the graphs..  10-20 inches of snow in forcast and bitter cold.. Streams in lockdown for a few weeks.... Those 20 inch 8lb brownies are safe for awhile...

Ice forms out from the shoreline causing the channel to shrink in size. Since the same amount of water is flowing through the smaller, constricted channel, the stage (water height in relation to some standard) goes up.  If you looking at USGS gages, use the discharge plot, which should not change much even though it looks like the water level went way up.  Some of the USGS gages just shut down once ice becomes a factor because they are so misleading.
