How much rain fell today

the site i use to check rainfall amounts hasnt been updated since 10:00 AM. I know erie got a bunch because elk and walnut are blown out. Making a trip mup tomorrow does anyone know how much rain fell, trying to gauge whether or not elk will be fishable. Also could someone tell me what kind of bait to use and exactly where to cast it I just polished my yellow rope and i really want to use it

Only .28 of rain, but it would be hard to guess how much snow melt there was.  I figure everything will be blown out.  But then again, I am not fishing streams much any more.

Streams are pretty high right now at 730pm.  Hourly forecast says no more rain after 9pm.  Streams will drop some but snow melt will definitely make things challenging.  If you are definitely going up no matter what, use heavier split shots and bigger baits.  Try smaller streams first, they clear quicker.  I would bet elk will not fish most if not all of tomorrow based on the gauges.  In higher water fish may hold tighter to banks and in deeper pools more if u can get the bait/lure/fly to them.  Id be chunking some big sacs!!!!!

Look at the gauges, creeks are completely blown out(777cfs). I would not go tomorrow, you'll be fishing in muddy, high water with rotten leaves and other garbage.

The last trip I was up there around end of November the flow was about 200cfs when we left, as of 7:50 Walnut upper pool was at 770... I'm heading up tomorrow as well and I pretty much have no idea of what I'm gonna be getting into if the flow is at 700 lol... I guess I'm going to learn quick...  The gauge spiked at around 820/830 so maybe by tomorrow around noon it could be down into the 500s...  (A tad bit easier possibly..)

ive gotten pretty good at gauging the creek conditions using the flow gauges but not sure what to make of the snow meltoff. I read that a foot of snow is equal to an inch of rain. Im not sure how much snow they had but i dont think it was more than a foot and its been melting for a few days now. Ya im definately going tomorrow im finally getting my dad up there and hoping to hook him into his first steel. Im sure there will be fishable water somewhere in erie but hoping for elk. Been tying bigger flies all week figuring the water would be up, most of my flies are for low and clear

I did ok my first time, caught 2 and hooked up 2, girlfriend caught her first on the 3rd cast and hooked another 2.  So we've broken our "cherries' per say, but i've been bummed about not being able to really fish and the weekend it's nice it goes and rains enough to cause a blow out haha...  Oh well I'll catch something even if I go to the North/South Piers and catch some perch or something I'll be happy, it beats sitting at home...
