Winter Steel

Had a great day on the stream.  26 degrees at 8am, but it warmed up to a balmy 34 by the time i left! Thanks for the input from those who pm'd me.  Found some fish, good color and flow to the water, and mostly ice free.  If you are trying to sight fish it's not gonna work right now.  Trust your instincts and maybe even try some new sections of water that u might not normally cast to.  I watched a father and son crush em in water i would never fish (until now).  They were very nice guys and willing to share info.  Hope i can do that with my kids as they get older on these streams.  I know some of you call these waters drainage ditches.  I get it that there are bigger nicer rivers elsewhere.  But for this little corner of the world they are pretty nice-especially this time of year.  God's creation shows His excellence.  And the fishing ain't too bad either!

Hot chocolate helped warm the bones today (and the thermos kept it hot for hours)!

You should have listened to Tightline and stayed home.  There are no Fish in the streams.  I bet these are pics from Ohio or 10 years ago..

If you caught those fish where I think you did, you have more than algae to worry about.

had a good time monday at 16 mile with skein. caught 2 with many hookups. water was clearing up tuesday so we hit walnut. i caught 2 below the first log jam and a third at manchester hole. first time i caught a limit of chrome. only kept one so someone else can enjoythose other fish. was using 6lb seager line. minnow under a blackbird phantom float with 4 of the smallest splitshot you can get. tight lines guys. theres still plenty of fish. my cousin hooked into close to 20 on walnut with his fly rod using crystal meth. landed 6.
