We've gotten a dusting so far.
In my perfect world we would get 6 inches over the next 2 days.
That would put some flow in  the tribs when it melts in a couple days.

Super sloppy mess weather wise here today. I'm taking hundreds of tons of hydrated lime , dumping it on the ground ( inside a waste dust landfill of course ) and trying to push my way through the SLOP !!!
Fun stuff indeed

The rain/freezing rain changed over to all snow about an hour ago.  Calling for 1-3" of the white stuff before the system moves up the coast tomorrow morning.

Mostly incredibly heavy snow here, about 7 measly inches so far. If it's gonna snow and make my life he!!, at least it could be good for snowshoeing. Ice looked close on a few of my local ponds, but faded. Still covered though. Still want to go to the river, maybe this weekend. I think the crowds have to be way down at this point.

I would venture 3 to 4 inches tops for us, probably less for the village of  Pulaski. Syracuse probably got 8 to 10 depending. It is that mealy wet slick stuff, but easy driving get you where you need to go.

Well my 1,740' elevated local puddle that was locked solid got 14-18" heavy stuff between last night` today.. Sunday , scout and if it's a bust, wabbit hunting a mile from the house sounds great in the 3 " wet stuff we got today..
Funny how that is in a matter of 40 miles but Life is Grand ..
Fichy, I think you'd be served well somewhere in the outdoors..

Now My B!tch.... Gosh dang.. Learn how to drive in winter conditions all you non fishers.. 65 mph or 15 mph is just insane..

Clint I'm quite a few miles out of the village but its hard to tell... Some deep drifts coupled with some bare areas... With maybe 4- 6 inches tops in flat areas. I found travel was fairly impaired today. 11 got a shut down just before 13 due to some accident. Since yesterday morning seen 2 flipped cars and a few off the road on 81

Yea I was just guessing on the village totals, but seems you got about the same as us here nd the sate conditions. 81 was closed from 481 to Tully due to multiple accidents. Only one in the ditch on the way home tonight. The city was a nightmare as usual with cars stuck on hills and lots of fender benders

We got another 4 or so last night leaving our on ground totals to 6 to 8 inches. Total wise maybe more due to the wind and drifting. Just did the full plow job and clean up which takes me about an hour or so, it was the first real/full clean up of the season. Hopefully we get little more as I like to relax when I get home.

I just wish the weather dudes could get the reports straight.  1 to 3" of snow for me on Wednesday; didn't happen, 1 to 3" of snow for me today; ain't happening.  Don't these weather dudes know I depend on accuracy for my out door enjoyment?

Well I had to take a class yesterday and had to get stuff done today. Both days temps hovered around freezing with little bouts of rain or snow sprinkles. I stopped at Oswego today while visiting my grandmother and it was cranking. Took a few casts with no luck.

Re:Weather thread 2014/12/14 18:45:10 (permalink)
Drove up to a high elevation watershed with a bucket full of fatheads and some spikes. The snow started getting really deep as I continued . Heart sank when I seen it had open water on the east end but most of the lake was locked !!
Trudged the the snow , almost up to my knee , with a spud bar. No such luck, the heavy snow pushed the ice down and it was an all slush lake .. BUMMER !!!
Now if I had driven about the same distance in a different direction I would have been golden . My friend scoped out another lake that had a bunch of people on it , ugh

No real cold weather expected for the upcoming week .. Going to have to head NORTH to get ON the water .

Altmar was the usual zoo with the warmer temps. I talked to guys from Conn., NJ, Mass., Maryland and Quebec that are staying a good part of the week because of them. I heard the fishing downriver is very slow, talked to a few pinners that got skunked and saw others do the same. Went 2 for 3 and went home early. Size 4 flesh fly. I may be done for the year, I'm really looking for some space and walking in after being very, very tired from working  to get zero activity is very unappealing. People are still  going in to the Church Pool before 5 am.  Clint's Rock is more like Tom .****and Harry's.     Same old.  If I lived closer I'd have a better time of it. I don't.

Re:Weather thread 2014/12/15 07:39:48 (permalink)
Living close is no guarantee either.   I had a choice of three spots, two on one trib, and the other my stretch on the Genny, two involve 1/2 mile walks in, and for both it is all uphill coming out.  The third is  a piece of cake, can walk and fish over 1/2 mile of stream , no steep slopes.  Since I only had about 2 hours, I opted for the easy spot.  However, the water was not up enough to draw anything new, and whatever had been there was long gone, and there was still enough snow to make the downstream hike daunting.  I started in a hole known as the shaft, and walking back to the car to put on hippers for the downstream hike, turned my ankle enough to end the day at the car.  Like HT, if I had gone to the other spot, I may have connected.  On the other hand I could have turned the ankle more seriously at the bottom of a much more difficult to navigate hill.  This getting old really sucks.

Fichy, you did better than most... Fishing has been rather lousy for most. I'm greatful for the one fish I got on my couple hour outting...I covered close to 1000 yards of water to get that one fish

Re:Weather thread 2014/12/15 13:12:24 (permalink)
Charlie and Charlie -13 , at least you guys made it out to wet a line. I drove 40 miles in the wrong direction and spent an hr outta my way getting lost on way home ( its deliverance up there ) just to stare at a slush puddle.
It seems maybe Fichy , that something I told you awhile ago may be starting to happen. You get burned out on that SR, not so much from the fish or fishing but the conditions at hand.. Maybe , maybe not, I know I did and the only thing that excites me these days out there is fishing with a newbie or an old friend. Thankfully I have a fresh new game with the lake.

As to the other post , Finally:
I really could care less how much or how little one spends on gear, clothes , or fishing spots. None of that has any effect on myself personally so it's their choice.
I work hard for my money and spend it as I see fit. I like nice gear and if it were not for the big increase in $$ and lack of interest , I would be fishing the DSR today.
The problems I have is when folks show little to no respect for the fishery ( trash ) , the fish ( snaggers ) or the fellow anglers ( hole humpers ) .
That's the real issues at hand not only on the SR or its tribs but its everywhere

Yea this is about the weather, it sucks , 40 degs does not make ice !!

Well we got a quick few inches this morning, but it has stopped. It is very heavy wet snow. VO Pulaski did not get much of anything. Altmar got the same as us maybe 3 inches. Temps are moderate at around freezing.

6 inches or less in most spots (most spots less).  The rain put a hurting on it. I had grass starting to poke through before today.

Crazy weather indeed this fall" ish"
Had snow at deer camp 80 miles from here since second week of oct. got snow home about 3 weeks ago and it's all but gone. Went 40 miles to the hills last sat ( ice ) and there were snow machines everywhere enjoying 18" plus for the last few weeks .
Strange days indeed in NY .. My northern hardwater spots are looking at 5 deg lows for the weekend :) Bring it on !!
