Just lookin' at the weather radar and 'my-oh-my'. Thought about singing 'Rain, Rain Go Away' but, changed my mind.

Row, row, row, your boat......
Gently down the stream.......
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily......
Fishing will be a dream.........

All that snow + All that rain + Warming temps. = this can't be good.

This morning we saw 51 ducks without 1 of them coming into range. You talk about frustrating almost like fishing when everyone around you is hooking up and you have no luck. At least it wasn't cold.

I'm jealous of everyone... I rented a tow behind lift to remortar and cap my chimney... Good thing I had the tractor handy as the truck did not cut it on the slick muck that was on top of still frozen ground underneath... Biggest feat of the pre winter stuff to do so its somewhat of a relief... Even though it was a major pain in the hole rigging chaining and pulling everything around .. Hope ya hit em jack!

was a pretty fun weather weekend.. Chilly and crisp yesterday, pouring rain last night , gnats out today...
while the fun ended and it's back to the J.O.B. in the am, I'm not done yet in the woods..
It's all good meat to us and we got 7 more tags floating..

Spent my day taking my niece to a birthday party at the mall in one of those indoor play ground things. She had fun and I ate a horrible $5 hotdog that gave me heartburn. At least she had a ball and that is all that matters.

Clint that's always a killer for me but it always sounds good to you eat them. Nathan's is my weakness when I'm on the thru way headed south.

I doubt it was the Nathans but what they/you slathered on it
Sitting here looking at the rain on the radar over NE Ohio and Erie Pa,does n't look good for tomorrow for me as I'm sure the creeks are going to be blown!

Everything around here is blowing out. North branch of salmon river is not climbing like other tug hill creeks but something tells me this most recent torrential warm rain followed by middle 60's today is gonna be icing on the cake.

Re:Weather thread 2014/11/24 06:14:51 (permalink)
My thoughts are that with TB gauge going up it would be a good time to pump 750 (I think that is the peak of what they can use for generation) for a few days just to see what happens and then not have to push 2000 all at once for a week.

Supposed to be a short lived warm up so I would think a week of preventive releases would take care of it.

Purely a  fisherman's perspective.
I'm sure there are property owners (Snagger) who feel the same.

Out west where I am everything is blown today and it is driving me nuts to be sitting here when the temp is 60 degree.Well they needed some moisture in the Erie tribs and we sure got it now,the question now is when will they drop to fishable levels. From one extreme to the other!!

Freezing temps and high winds subsided yesterday here-- No hunting on Sunday so it was 50-sunny and no wind----of course.
Am sure they moved Sun- a front approached - today is windy and raining hard..
Perhaps a PM hunt if it subsides.
 Snow for Wed and Thurs.
Tomorrow ???

1200 this AM at Pineville, Genny is up over 4000, with water high for a hundred miles south, 4 days off coming up and nowhere to fish!  Whittle away at the Honeydew list!

Just caught a breath of fresh air and attempted to trya local tributary mouth (more so my son).... Lake has 6 foot pounders pounding with a steady wind... He was able to catch a 15 minute drift a few mikes upstream with prime waterflow... No dice... Was a great little adrenaline rush... Give em hell tomorrow jack

Lucky it was perfect, just impossible to cast. The hole is nice and cut out for the time being. Water level upstream was perfect but was just a little too late in the day at that point. I imagine your local tribs within proximity to the lake are perfect right now...

For tug hill water sheds... All 3 that I watch all went over 4000!!! Look out Brookfield....

So are they still going up or have they peaked out like TB has seemed to do?

We're actually back to the too much and too little scenario, they started dropping the canal into the Genny on Monday and it went from ~600 and as clear as it gets to over 4000.  That peak is dropping off but there is high water from the melt to the west as far south as Portageville, so it won't come down to fly fishing fun levels until, let's see, I go back to work Monday, probably Monday.  The other tribs around here did not benefit from the precip to the west and east, so they are really skinny.  So I may end up exploring froggy water in a couple of spots, or just keeping things happy on the home front by putting the flyrods back in the moth balls.

To our friend over by Albany, be careful out there, and Happy T-DAY to all.
