Jack we werent to far off from 4k in the lower river the other day... I hit The river last weekend and there was some very noticeable bank erosion and large rock displacement from the blowouts this past winter and spring...

Wow... Even at a flow of 855 cfs at pineville today it is still a record high for the recording period for that gauge... Meanwhile this is the lowest its been in weeks! I am hoping to wet the line for the last hour this evening

All tribs blew up pretty big but are waning fast... Warm and dry weather turned things back around quickly for natural flowing streams. Don't really think its worth the effort if fish is your goal... Nothing wrong with a nature walk though :)

Today it feels like Salmon time! High 70's,no humidity, and a nice fresh breeze. But instead of fishing I sealed cracks on my driveway. However that time is coming when the drag screams from the mighty KING! BRING IT ON!

BG Bear. Just got back from Pulaski a couple of hours ago after two nites. Only a handful of fish were in the river. Saw one in the Little Black Hole yesterday after the thunder storms passed thru. Only action was a couple of the stocked Brown trout in the DSR. Very hot and nothing going on in the estuary. Did not even see one jump! Only a couple of Salmon up at the Hatchery from last weeks high water. Maybe this weekend cold front will bring them in. Still beats work! On a good note Whitakers got new beds which are very comfortable! Will be back up last week of month! Good Luck!

Well , Yesterday was brutal hot. I put A/C in new house yesterday because we were sweating while trying to sleep. The humidity broke a little today but A/C is still running, on econo. Had to water what's left of garden yesterday also. Brussels sprouts are looking good, peppers still producing and tomatoes were best crop in years. Lots of sauce canned. Fall is coming for sure as the sun has set @ 7:15 pm . Hope it's a nice cool down and not a throw down right to bitter cold. On the fence about this weekend on the Great Lake , weather still iffy. Either way the Daisy Mae will ride the waters some where .

Here is my updated weather report. That heavier rain we were expecting to get Thursday never came. We got a few pocket shower and that it all Friday was windy and foolish, sun and clouds temps never got out of the 50's with s high of an out 57. It was 49 when I got up. We went hiking at a place in Henderson called Robert B Wele state park, it was nice. TODAY, HOLY CRAP. It was 42 when I got up and sprinkling. Went for my walk and I swear I got hit by a snow pellet. It is quite windy, scattered showers and 49 right now at 10:00. The wind wops the rain and pelts you. I needed a cap and gloves during the walk for comfort. Feels like November.........................

Nice steady fairly heavy rain. Feel a bit bad for Charlie and UF on the river, but at least they are getting at them. I will stand in the rain for steel, but not sharks. This takes me out of going to the nephews football game too. He is only a sophomore so not worth getting soaked to watch him play 6 plays at the end of the game.

Bear you were definitely on to something... There was a pod of cohoes bouncing around for a few days in ThE estuary but they disappeared... But cold rain with wind and the smell of stove smoke in the air might change that Edit: new site format must be acting up... For some reason it scent a notification that bears comment from two weeks ago was new :/

This is the weather for fall brookies in the 'daks, not the 90 we hit two weeks ago. Transportation problem dealt with, I pick up an '08 Jimmie with 25K miles tomorrow AM, a little bit under my budget. I known it will cost for gas, but I felt like a sardine in the small SUV's I was also looking at, and my wife liked the truck as well. The "how to purchase a tent" method- bring the wife, buy whatever tent she likes, then she will be happy camping, and you'll get used to anything that gets you camping! L13

Forgot to mention it was 29 here this am per my wife and confirmed by my dad. Lucky you are right on about your purchase, keep the wife happy. Pretty decent vehicle. Is it a 4.3?? Biggest issue with those are wheel bearings and rear brakes. I have owned a few of the s 10 models

It is a 5.4 8, but the mileage came up the same for a 6 or an 8. It is a basic work truck, has a tonneau on it now, I'll have to find a cap. My sense is that it was someone like me that bought it, ran it a couple of years, and then passed on, and the wife traded it for what she wanted after it sat in the garage for a while. I really tried to get my wife to buy what she wanted and let me take her town and country, and I wanted something with better mileage, but I was really cramped in anything that fit my budget, and they just didn't have the room for the amount of gear I take camping and on vacation. The folks I know who run GMC's in general don't have a lot of problems with them, and this one looks very clean for 6 years old. Time will tell, but the good lord willing, I've only got a few more months of commuting. L13

They are good vehicles. Is it 4*4? Like I said wheel bearings and rear brakes. The other thing is the exhaust manifolds like to rust on those as well as the brake lines. Replaced several lines on dads 05 twice.

The cheapest 4x4 they had was 24K and had 62 K miles on it. If I don't get a cap before the snow flies, I'll build a 2x4 frame and put some sand bags in for traction. L13

Good tires and some weight will do you fine for most instances. 4*4 trucks are out of control price wise. Should last you quite a few years.

No low temps or rain predicted for the next 10 days- does not look good for any kind of increase in the trickle. Staying on the coast an extra day or 2 for vacation is looking better and better. The good thing is I'll have miles of estuary to myself and empty beaches. My prediction is it'll start around the 5th after a torrential downfall and a plunge in temps. Or maybe not.
