About the nicest summer I can remember in a long time even with the T-storms. Mostly low eighties, no air conditioner nights in the 60's. It was a H*** of a winter to get through but sweet now. L13

Absolutely dumped rain in the early am... A quick shot about an hour ago and now another little one... Below average temps with a wet forecast for the next ten days... Seems as if the wind may even shift a few of the days out on the lake... I'll give it no more than week before rumors start flying

Might get up mid week for yard stuff, assorted chores and finishing the raccoon damaged porch/ fireplace room- avoid even planning a fishing trip anymore, why set myself up for disaster. Those old motel days are looking more and more attractive- just fishing. Would LOVE to take a low/mid hike looking for a scout-or even spend time peering into the estuary waters off the bridge to just see an early fish. Any day now------

Somewhat of a great summer here. Lots of high humidity with an every afternoon light show , gulley washer. I don't like hot & humid. A/C runs every night in my bedroom and probably every other day in the house. Boomers came through this morning when the humidity came. More expected this afternoon.
As for staring into the estuary . The lake guys are still in 160-200 fow. I'm heading up in 2 weeks. I will let you know how far out we gotta go. My thoughts are between 5-7 miles out. Still think we got about 3 weeks befor anything shows up in da- river but hey ya never know

Summer here has been anything but slow. Shoot ton of work that needed attention and much more that is still in need. Just NO time.. Fishing on the other hand has been sloooooow since spring stripers , see above. Fall will be gang busters, winter as well. While you all know how I feel about ice, it will be here before we know it. I could and quote me, do with it later then sooner. Last year I spent 18 weeks straight on the ice which was awesome , just to much to do , too little time. Wish I was a Retired Guy ..

Don't handle heat and humidity well myself. A C has been on most afternoons and then on a low setting at night. Still gonna be a way lower electric bill than most years.

Know what ya mean Tuna bout work that needed attention- Despite a great local Spring trout season the outside work began on the yard and plantings around the 'new' house as well as taking care of the 'old' one which still hasnt sold - so that continues. Whenever am caught up with these two Ct Places its off to NY to care for that one. Shouldn't be complaining but with Fall fish upcoming as well as furry stuff to shoot am chompin at the bit for some outdoor sports instead of outdoor work- till leaf season.

Jack, notice I did say it wouldn't bother me this year if it waited till jan- march. It was a long TOUGH winter , even for the sport I love, heat included. Not a bad summer but a long mud season spring and a short hot humid summer kinda stinks here. Blow out streams were norm. Can't wait and hoping for an extended fall and a short deep freeze to get my ice fix

Me either Dime. with these low water temps and higher flows here and there this summer is their a better possibility of some natural steel repo.

That's a touchy subject Clint :). I've believed in natural reproducing rainbows in this system for quite some time now... Although there are many factors that can disprove it; I find it very hard to believe there isn't successful reproduction naturally given the fact that there's spawning strains from November to middle of may (possibly early June this past season)... That's potential of more than half the year of spawning taking place in which 3 of the months are peak spawn..." How can it not take place" is the question I ask... I'm eagerly awaiting the DEC studies that are underway as we've already been informed that coho are more than50% natural and Chinook I believe are 33%..honestly the last 3 seasons I've seen 9 out of 10 kings I've landed be wild... Granted I put my salmon stick up on the shelf pretty early on...but still... Its an amazing fishery to say the leasy

A big concern of mine is the annual eel kill Clint... As for weather I absolutely love this summer... When its wet its wet... But when its dry its dry... Not too many days above the 80 degree mark... Last year was endless rain and HOT!!! I think 28 out of 30 days were rain filled in the heart of last summer

This is what I know about the natural reproduction of Steel and Salmon. The Steel spawn in the late winter/spring and the fry hatch late spring. The youngsters do not go to the lake until they spend a full year in the river. If the water gets too warm in that time they perish. The Salmon spawn in the fall and the fry hatch soon after. The smolts that were hatched in the fall leave the river in late spring early summer and are not affected by the warm summer flows. There is probably some natural reproduction of Steel but not enough to matter so they better keep stocking the smolts or the "world class" fishing will be kaput! Speaking of weather,I love this summer as it is not too hot and we are getting plenty of rain for the water release this fishing season.

Yea jack that's what I know too. I just can't take that there is zero natural repo. 2%. 5%. Maybe. Not enough to sustain this fishery for sure, but a few extra do not hurt. X
