but then by next Friday the temps are looking to rebound well, so hopefully it is the last below 0 of this winter. At this point I would take normal temps for this time of year and be extremely happy

Yesterdays max temp for wunderground.com Pulaski weather stations was 13 above... 1 degree below the average low temp of 14 for this time of year. The minimum temp was -21 which may very well be a record for yesterday. The average high temp for this time is 35... I'd be fine with below average temps... just as long as they're not 25 degrees below average. I'm fine with high twenties and teens at night... below zero is getting really old though. Probably have burned twice the wood this winter than last...
Clint it really should be the last bout of single digit days and below zero mornings... but its gonna be a tough one for sure

Good luck HT, I did not get in until late last night AND my check engine light came on in the car. Need to try and fix that today. Luckily I think it is just the Oxygen sensor.

Obviously everyone is tired of the weather...lol
10 day shows only 2 days above freezing. Oneida lake was just about frozen over all the way to the 81 bridge this morning... I don't think the true thaw will come until end of march... but at least its light out later and the sun does its job with gradual melt and warmth. 0 degrees at 630 am felt awful warm with the sun shining bright :)

Yea a gradual thaw, keeping me on the ice for a few more weekends would do me fine. Freaking O2 sensor I put on the car did not do the job so now I think it is the catalytic converter meaning big $$$$$$$. Luckily I got 7 month before I need an inspection. Have to decide weather to keep the car or dump it. It is older and owes me nothing. There is one more trick I will try that involves "tricking" the sensor that only cost like $10 so when it gets a bit warmer I will try that.

It seemed today a thaw was happening.. some snow/ice melt made the dozer tracks another sloppy mess.. We here below the blue line and east of the Great Lake 0 are seeing a warming day trend for the foreseeable future.. Nights are still going to keep things cold and tight but I can feel it in my bones, Spring is near.. With out a doubt, barring any major wet snow , Ice fishing will continue into April.. How the thaws and run off affects the flowing streams will yet to be seen.. I sure hope to fish the SR in April.. Stay warm, stay safe and always live our dreams

This cold weather has to give it was 10 below this morning. For the first time in a long while I have to get fuel oil in the winter because I do not dare to run out. 150 gallons = $600 or $4 a gallon.

It's been a long cold winter and along with everyone else , I'm ready for some warmth . Got 2 deliveries of fuel and went through a lot more wood pellets then normal. I'm sick of frozen pipes with cold floors. We hit negative temps again last night but they say 40's are on the way, lets hope the 50's aren't far off. Looks like I will be still hardwater fishing easily into April but I'm more then ready to take the kayak out in search of stripers. Tradition here in my crik the herring show up by April 15 ( tax day ) but I might need the auger and jig pole to catch some. Stay warm fellas,

Nope Gerry I don't. This will give me enough to fill up in August or September and then hopefully make it through next winter. 150 is minimum delivery. If i am not down to the minimum by September I will drain a little and burn it in the tractor. It's a good feeling to not have to worry about running out though.

Yea a lot of sunshine and plenty of melting going on today . Gonna be a lot of cleaning on the dozer tracks in a little while :( Hope you all get out to enjoy the weather, got a feeling the river is going to start to get busy. Hitting lake George at 6:30 tomorrow and taking a break to do some house chores ( fix that broken pipe) on Sunday . Still stuck on mandatory 12 hr shifts , ugh, so leaves little time after work to get anything done.
Maybe some fish pics form those that venture ?

Going to try to hit the Genny tomorrow AM. AHPS says steady and under 2K cfs through Monday night, I may actually get to swing some of the big ugly streamers with the spey, and then , like Clint I will start to hit IC or another ditch in the PM with the extra daylight next week. I can guarantee that the big run will come thorough a week from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, because I have to be out of town. But maybe not, NWS says cold again midweek next week, although nothing as brutal as the recent past. L13

It was a glorious bright sunny day today .. Slight breeze dried some of the thawing clay, mud up and while I have no idea of temps, it felt warm out , again.. Stuck around the house getting caught up on things I have put off .. Changed oil in car (5,000 overdue) , replaced a bathroom sink faucet ( the hot water knob has been missing since winter) and fixed that broken pipe in apartment addition ,oddly it was a cake job.. Heck I even played with some striper, steelhead and trout gear today.. But yes, bought more ice fishing gear too.. lol Spring has Sprung !!

Today was grand. That was until the wind started blowing and the lake effect churned up where I was fishing. Packed up a bit early due to the slow bite and started to head home. Less than 2 miles down the road the sun was out again. Just checked the wifes car and that is 2k overdue so that will get done tomorrow when she gets home. It looks like some rain tomorrow afternoon so I think the river is probably out. Will be keeping an eye on the storm for Wednesday as there may be some more snow piling up. Anyone care to remember 2 years ago when it was almost 80 degrees in the middle of March.

I do... The year Lake George never froze I will have to look back at my dates but times I recall. Mid Jan in DSR 60 + degs. March Ice storm that shut Rochester to Rome down for a week.. I was in a DB and staying the week in sodus Feb , Daytona week ... Staying in Oswego .. Hurricane force 70 mph winds, warm temps.. Watching surfers .. Yes surfers !!! Fished lfz for maybe 2nd time ever.. Made 1 cast, right up into an overhanging tree.. Went back to Oswego and watched race with wife at Steamers, oh yea, I had my boat in tow too.. April, Mid 1980.. HUGE chocolate water on SR, I mean in the corn fields of the wires.. Little Salty crik was our savior.. Rob-Bob Howe hooked us up... Moose, oh Moose..another story for another time... Good times were ALL despite the weather and conditions.. I go because it's about the adventures .. We do the best we can in all situations

Are you talking about the ice storm that blew out all the pole transformers? If so that night was as good as any steel run I've ever witnessed. Tucked myself up to the old abutment across from the shaft to try and have some protection from falling limbs and trees. Quite literally non stop action for about 3 hours until brains got the better of valor and I got out before I got trapped by the trees across the road.

I see pulaska is under a blizzard warning.. Shakes alive, it's raining quite steady here in MUDs ville.. A big drop in temp later tonight and through tomorrow but that's it for us low landers .. Spring is coming , no stopping it. From sat on for the extended week ahead, above freezing and only slightly below at night. Will the streak end at 15 on Sunday ??
