Switching between rain and snow.  So much for the weather man saying it would stop by 1200.  I would say easily .5 inches it has been real steady

Took a walk out back and it is wet for sure but still some deep snow out there. My pond and little trickle creeks are blown out as I couldn't venture too far back from the slush pooled up in the low spots around them. Overall I don't think its gonna be too bad from here on. This stuff was pretty frozen solid for quite some time. Just gonna end up being more ammo towards a blow out for the next thaw...if it ever comes that is!!!

Back to the artic next week,I looked at the calendar just to be sure that is near the end of Feb.Normal temps should be low 40's not 20's.......I HATE WINTER!
One positive is that my snowblower is back in the garage ready for any snow to come, the negative is it cost $1140 to fix!

The gleaming  yellow orb appeared here about 3 PM for enough time to get some Ahs, and then back to grey.  But at least for a few hours, it is not FREEZING COLD!   Cabin fever, no , not me....

Lucky you all. never seen it here today only grey skies and rain with massive flowing grey and brown  tributaries (huh mud swamps from equipment)   on the J.O.B..
It's now all sheet ice everywhere outside on this Sat , 12am, not so fun drive home..
Give me freezing cold over precipitation in the winter any day or night..
You know where my cabin fever lyes, .. In the shanty, on the ice :)..
Alas. this is the break from my hardwater garble for awhile (yea right) as the weather has put me down out there.. Not into waders walkin on TOP of the water..
Lets all hope this cabin fever don't last too long.. Bring back the cold ..lol

A new one like mine (Honda hs928) retails for $2800.It is on tracks and is self propelled 2 stage blower with variable speed that really moves the snow.I have it for 20 yrs and the transmission blew, now it has a new trans and is ready to go.The service dept said mine is only one of two that they ever saw go like this.As I mentioned before I have a very long drive up a hill and a complete circle up top in front of my house/garage so this is a great machine for the task.
By the way Rich your COLD is coming back next week but there is a possible NEer coming with it.....you all ready for some more SNOW!

You also know I HATE SNOW !!! Stay warm buddy ..

Drill a  hole or two so the water can drain off the ice and into the lake just like you would if you got water in your boat.

45 and sunny.... some of the larger corn fields that get wind blown are going bare... some are really pooled up. The flat lands near the lake have water/slush pools all over the place. The smaller creeks have broke loose with free flowing water. Gauge up to the north is on a slow but steady vertical rise... I'd be surprised if the salmon doesn't get bumped to 1k by tomorrow night or monday...

AND windy as hell.  If the banks were not around in some places there would be water across the road in some places and in some places there was some creeping on.

Absolutely... saturated was an understatement...
Local ontario tribs are free flowing in many areas... now how about the possible 20+ inches that's gonna fall on top of the soon to be ice pack??? That's a set up for catastrophe if a big wet thaw comes afterwards... the pack will act like an ice luge with straight grain alcohol pouring down it at a college frat party.... minus the wet T-shirt contest though :)

Man what a beautiful day today... sure is a great to be fishing anywhere... kudos to those fortunate enough

Checked a couple of local ditch spots, too high to fish, and too early for the new chrome, but mergansers all over the place on local embayments.   Vitaman D felt great, too!  Spring is not too far off!

Man is it snowing.   This is Sandycreek snow.   9:00 and over a foot and it is still coming down.   Close to a foot in the road.   Am all done cleaning up and there is now 2 plus inches in the driveway  already.

Wonderful .. The sun is shining here but the temps have plummeted back into the 20's.. Maybe all that snow will scare the fishers away. I'm bringing my kid up on Sunday for his first steelhead fishing adventure so everyone should stay FAR away from us unless they wish to deal with a total newbie trying to fish around them . Lol

The forecast is a high of 15 and a low of 1 !!! That sounds like better hard water weather than river fishing to me Rich? I certainly won't be there to crowd you.

I hear that Jack but I have to be very close to the SR overnight sat so figure what the heck. He bought his first pair of waders and wants to give it a try. He tried salmon fishing Once and that was enough .after freezing his butt off I'm sure he will be ready to head back to a warm shanty instead. Lol

Of course its long term... and not always right... but 15 of the next 16 days are to be below freezing with majority of them 20's or teens... with many nights in singles and a few below zero... I have to say I have finally had it. Enough is enough!!!!

Looks like I was wrong... instead of 1000 by Monday its gonna be 1200 :)

Tuna... I don't see the water being up til Sunday....They really are doing a great job with the water management. They are almost matching natural flows it seems. I would assume it will do nothing but boast better natural reproduction in the future and mostly it gives the fish a better chance of survival and lowers stress levels. Just think, an extremely cold winter and we've barely had more than two weeks of 285... that's awesome.

Clint, you guys are getting bombed down there... I'd say I maybe got 8 inches or so but with the wind its all blown off of the hard snow pack with odd shaped wind drifts here and there. Parish to hastings was white out this morning and the same this afternoon...
