Thank god my roof is metal... its a slow but steady fall off... don't think I'd ever do a shingle job on it as I would never want to shovel it... tuna, your pic of your home would fit right in with these parts up here. What a winter for everyone it seems. I just left the house to go to the store and a mile down the road its not snowing... but so far two inches in my driveway and still snowing. Thank god for 4 wheel drive and my good friend john d

Yea I just drove up to Pulaski and I was in and out of squalls. Drive a mile in a squall drive out of it and it is clear for a mile, then right back into it. I have the money saved for a metal roof for our house when this one is gone. I actually started saving after we built in in 2003 knowing it would be a matter of time before I needed a new one. My wife did not want a metal roof when we built and I caved. I regret the decision every winter since. My pole barn is metal and it came off today.

I guess some people don't prefer the look... I'd say for the price and ease of installation they're great. If you're really looking for long term Standing seam is the way to go as there are no penetrations through the actual roofing material but I believe its about twice the cost of standard corrugated.

Aerial flood watch is in place... northern Cayuga, Wayne, Ontario, oswego, Jefferson and lewis counties... Although the reservoir is probably empty and it may take a few days for the water to rise...folks looking to fish this weekend should be skeptical

well you guys keep an eye on the weather up there for me... This piddle 30 some inches down here stinks.. It was better furthur north the past 3 days.. Less snow but still a drag.. Today was a look local with heavy snow pushing up water.. If the warm up rain comes it could help get rid of this white stuff and re freeze the top 6".. Would be great .. I see it happening into next week... Temps still look like winter in the long range here. For a little SR discussion: I'm getting itchy and have some whiskey in a jar Id like to sip on the banks.. A look at moving water may be in the near future so , keep an eye on the weather up there Heck a fishing report would be cool too

HT I almost went up on Sunday. I have Thursday through Monday off, with T,F,S being on the ice. If it is not too bad I may go up to the river on Monday as crowds will hopefully be down.

not quite tug area status but it's starting to pile up in such a short time.. started snowing wet and heavy today. while i may be able to isolate broken water pipes , i couldn't take the chance at a roof collapse so shoveled off the other half .. this winter stuff is really getting old, even for me..

Quite impressive for a short period of time tuna... I almost think its worse for you as we were dealing with snows like that since about mid November and we get used to it... plus the county is great with removal... had quite a few foot plus storms where the buses still run and the kids go to school...

I gotta think we been lucky with snowfall here.. all this stuff came in less then week & 1/2.. All I have to move it is an ATV and shovel ,which made that pile.. When I was a kid this seemed normal, but then I was only 3' tall.lol.. Cold I can deal with, snow I HATE and it has got old real quick !!! Starting to play with my open water gear

Left this AM at 0645 and came home at 530 to a fresh 4 to 6 inches of heavy wet stuff. Thank goodness dad's plow is fixed. All's I needed to do was shovel the steps.

We only got 2 inches and I decided to shovel it off,the one positive thing about this is it sure is keeping the weight off me as I'm down to 180 and holding.Tomorrow they say we will get some ice,I could care less as I'm not going anywhere!4 warmer days then back to the artic blast,is it ever going to end?

I drove home near midnight in a fog bank with black ice conditions.. We got 3 " snow today and I will plow tomorrow, It's 12 degs outside now.. I want my access areas clean after the warm up into freeze again.. The nasty stuff (rain/ice) is supposed to hit here into friday.. I'm now fearing I may have to shovel off my mothers roof at some point tomorrow.. Jack, I do believe this snow crap will end but what lies ahead for stream fishers is my concern this spring.. High , cold , muddy waters.. Things may turn into an ice out brook trout pond fishery for me until mid June when the moving water settles back down.. I still think I will be walking on water at Lake George in April once again..

yeah looking like The possibility of close to two weeks of sub freezing weather after this warm up. mostly 20 'S, teens And some singles at night...
Tuna you're probably right bud... ice is gonna stick around for a long time probably.
Despite this cold typical winter, the summer and fall runs are gonna be setting up on their spawn about now.

HT- There are a lot worse things than ice out brookie pond fishing, and it might last until mid July this year, Of course, that means it may not open up until Memorial Day, and the little black demons will be around all summer, or until the deer flies eat them all! Small tribs should be roaring this weekend, and then down to fishing level in March (which is when a couple of them came on strong last year). Should be a lot of antsy chromers in the frog water along the lake after all this ice. L13

All rain down here HT. The problem is it has turned walks, driveway and roads to a sheet of ice. Give me the snow anytime over frozen precip and rain this time of year.

My 20+ inches of pack in my side yard is down to a soft 12 with the ground underneath saturated... Small creeks and trickles have water flowing over them... this could get ugly for some tribs. All depends on this rain letting up. but even so the snow is drenched underneath. I imagine the corn fields may go to bare ground from this one
