Get what open water fishing you need done, as it goes back to teens with highs in low twenties into the weekend, and it may have to be ice at that point. L13

We're calling for singles as lows for quite some time At least watching the bozoes gearing up on Salina st By the short bridge will be comical as they are destined to just have their bait floating to the surface after a few casts from it being completely frozen...

Hahhh, only inches bear...lol
Last storm they predicted 8-12 inches throughout three days but we ended up getting two and a half foot in less than 24 hours. The big one before that they predicted up to 6 ft. But it seems Watertown ended up topping off at 32" over a three day period with that one. Just like last Wednesday when they predicted the overnight low to be +3 when it ended up being -24... and so and so on... a bunch of years back Mr g. Was the weatherman for the morning mayor Harry Harrison and I always got a kick out of him changing his forecast from looking out the window. Lol!!! At least he was honest!!!

We have only gotten a few inches from this storm so far. It is supposed to gear back up in a bit to give us a few more. South is getting way more than north. Looks like Syracuse is going to get hit again soon. I will not go out and plow until tonight so I only have to clean up once

I got 10"+ out of this one. It stop snowing long enough to snow throw the driveway and walks. It began raining just as I finished turning the residual snow to ice upon contact. The roads are going to very slick so be careful if you must drive.

Coming down at a fair pace again here. Do not get me wrong this is no lake effect storm and there is decent visibility. It looks heavy though.

We got about 12". Biggest snow fall this year. Woke up , plowed my place, moms place then headed north where I'm house sitting and plowed my kids place. Now I'm plowing at work. Jack I agree. I hate snow !! Love winter though . Going to be a tough drag on the ice this weekend

I just pulled in to the drive to a good 12" of hard snow... radar shows a large portion still sitting over the lake. Since the storms path hit the lake earlier this afternoon it seems to be moving pretty slow. Funny thing is that the forecasts are still calling for storm totals of 4-8".... I'm gonna stick to my "look out the window" and open up the side porch door" forecasts as they seem to hold a lot more truth :)
Clint I'm with you. Gonna plow just before dark and any other residual after that will just have to get driven over in the a.m.
Drove through town and the river is really slushing up. Town pool may get frozen over from bank to bank this week with the overnight lows dipping near zero some nights coming up. With the multiple storm layers coupled with wind blown banks, its gonna be looking like and shaping up to be what I always thought of as a typical winter for around here. Some of the wind drifts in the wind tunnel I call home are pretty high right now

Just got through plowing. Easily a foot. Been a tough day. First they cancel my appointment at the pain clinic tomorrow. Then dad's plow stops working. No power to the controller. The fuse it was wired to was not getting power. No time to figure it out so power wire to controller is just wired to to battery with an inline fuse to protect controller and a switch to turn the power to the controller off. Will figure it out later when the snow is not piling up and I can pull it into the garage out of the weather.

Clint that sucks man. Hope your not straining yourself buddy Your plow problem sounds a little more complicated than my infrequent need to take my side grill off and arc the solenoid with a screw driver after giving it a quick spritz of starter fluid with the key turned, and of course the solenoid is on the opposite side of the entry door... I hate those darned low voltage shorts. I got lucky this time and it started right up with the push button as it sucks doing it in a white out with deep snow
Just finished myself and I'd say about 14. Possibility of a heavy squall tonight producing another 3-6. Winds from the NE should keep the mass out and away as it moves off the coast. Full forecast tomorrow morning once its all done for sure and I look out the window :)...lol

Well my rig up worked to get the rest of the drives plowed. Not having my tester this afternoon or the owners manual I just did it as quickly as possible to get out of the wind. Seems the fuses I tried this afternoon were for the blinkers and only powered when the blinkers/flashers were on. I found my tester and dad had the truck in the garage and I tested the fuse that powered the plow control and NOTHING. It says trailer control in the manual. I am not even going to mess with it. I moved the wire to another fuse for cruise (that the truck does not even have) and it worked well. It will stay there probably forever or until that one craps out. Neck has been good lately, but my sciatic nerve has been acting up leaving a burning tired clutch leg. Was supposed to get some new meds to try tomorrow tohelp with that, but will have to wait. Been living with it for a while so no biggie. It gets worse when I am stressed out so just got to take a step back and breath

I hear ya clint... definitely gotta take a step back sometimes. And yes gerry, hopefully jack is OK. But something tells me hes the type to have a generator for emergency situations :)
Was just reading an article on ocean temperatures regarding 2013. They are saying despite the colder trends since 2000 that have skewed peoples thought on global warming, the worlds oceans are warming at a faster rate than ever. With 2013 being a tremendous increase. Kinda scary as they said land on "earth" contributes only 2% of the earths total heat retainage. While water masses retain more than 90% of the earths heat. The chart they showed dates back to 1950 in which they measure the oceans temperatures in units of "joules". Since 1990 the chart has been a steady exponential climb. The article is on the wunderground.com website if anyone is interested in reading it.

I was ready for a power outage but we escaped it in good shape,it seems south of me near Phila. got it bad as they say it will be out for days for many. When I built this house 20+ yrs ago I debated about a generator but did n't do it.The first 15+ yrs we never had a problem but the last couple we had a couple outages. They generally don't last very long so I just ride them out. The driveway was a ****,not much snow but a very thick cover of ice on top, when I got to where the drive hits the street the twsp plows left me with a pile about 6 ft wide,3 ft high and roughly 25 ft long to deal with.I had to break it up with a ice chipper and then blow it about 2 ft at a time.By the time I got it all cleared I was soaked with sweat.I step on the scale tonight and discovered I lost 10 lbs this winter with all the exersize,at least there is a positive!

Glad everything is going OK down there Jack. I always seem to lose weigh the in the winter too. I have a portable back up genny that I had wired in so I can back feed safely if needed. Not that big at 5500, but keeps the water running and the heat and lights on. This last storm was about 14 inches, snow wise. Not the most accumulation, but by far the largest water content. This snow was small flaked and heavy, like pushing sugar with the plow. Looks like a small amount of lake effect, mostly for north of us and then the storm for this weekend has been down graded to just a light snow at best. Sure wish I was on my way to my doctors appt rather than sitting here. Wanted to talk to them about actually how bad the neck is, and possibly getting on some new meds for the burning feeling. Was also hoping they could light a fire under the Neurosurgeon and get my appointment earlier. Hopefully they can fit me in next week. I just feel bad because now I have to cancel my patients at work for this........... PS 6 below when I got up this AM now it is up to a balmy minus 3.

I hear ya bear. It is what it is and ya gotta roll with the punches. Lake effect hovering... Low of 9 predicted. If lake effect comes in it should probably hold true or even not get as cold. But if it stays to the north and clear skies prevail I'm guessing at least zero. Still not a sizable thaw in near sight. Lower end may ice over to the wall pool or at least the flats until fishable again. Yeah, I'd say a typical winter from my older (young) memories. There may be a chance that many of the winter fish have already come with the higher flows that have been above average for most of the winter. Will they all be up top? Or will a good amount winter over under the shelter of the ice down low??? Either way, I d think some are wintering over down low under the ice.
