A balmy zero out right now with little wind. Was actually outside for About 5 minutes without gloves just now...not too bad out. Amazing how your body acclimates to the weather. I really don't see the big deal about today with Cuomo declaring state of emergency. We've already had a -11 this year... Watertown has had a few -15's and lower... last years lowest reading I read was -23 for me... so why does anyone think its the end of the world now???
Well I'm off to shovel... at least my beer won't get warm :)

I walked into work today from the lot at around 0 and it was not that bad. When I got into the hospital my legs felt as if they were on fire as they were warming up. Warm up tomorrow and hoping to get my garage patched up in the afternoon. It will feel like a heat wave I think ;0)

I always get a kick out of checking out extreme temperatures for the day statewide... farmingdale NY recorded a 50 degree temp today while saranac lake and Watertown record -17 and -15. Surprisingly even farmingdale is going below zero tonight... what a widespread cold snap.

Minus 9.4 and dropping at 12 am. Coldest night here so far. Lake George is -21, that ought to make some ice !! Pulaski is still holding at -2, heat wave up there lol. Gonna be chilly in 6 hrs . Hope the truck starts , it didn't this morning :( Keep warm under the covers and may the winter blues stay away

Yup, its always the wind that gets ya... my coldest morning on the river as said earlier was -22... not a cloud in the sky or a touch of wind. I took a double take at the thermometer when I walked out thinking it was 22 at first...

Always get a kick outa news reports of huge storms here along the coast (DC,NYC Boston etc--) Six inches to a foot is a BIG deal. Heck, up in SR country this stuff isnt even on the news or hardly noticed --Lake effect normalcy- lol. Have woke up in the AM to several inches on the truck in the drive in Richland and nobody even seems to notice. Here in Ct it would cause a store run on toilet paper and bottled water.

Not a warning yet, but a lake effect snow "watch" has been issued through Wednesday. It states that parts of northern oswego county can see more than 3 feet in the more persistent snow bands.

Your right TB that place was AWESOME. Man size portions, thick steaks and huge pieces of homemade pie. I don't think is is around anymore or at least not open. As far as snow I would make a bet that they got their fair share.

5 feet?.....If we got that in SE Penna. it would be a MAJOR catastrophe. Well after driving the 6.5 hrs Friday to home found 7 inches of fluffy stuff on the drive, parked the car on the street, walked up the 300' drive and cranked up the blower and cleared the drive...I thought! The snow was gone for the most part but the residue was a slippery glaze that prevented me from going up the hill,so I left the car there for the night.Next morning I spread some salt and after a hour or so got the car up to the house.Everything was fine until today. My wife insisted that I run a errand for a friend this afternoon. There was a light rain falling and the forecast said freezing but it had n't when I left to run the errand.Soon after I got going the freeze set in and the roads at our friends house turned to ice.Slid through two stop signs and slipped and slid to her house to complete the errand.Headed for home and when I got to my drive it was frozen,so now the car is sitting down at the bottom waiting for the thaw tomorrow so I can get it in the garage before the ARTIC blast sets in at night. Have I ever mentioned that I HATE WINTER!!

Jack sorry to hear about your dilemma. Its a shocking 41 and raining in Pulaski...46 in parish.. unbelievable to think it will plummet through the day and be 3 degrees in less than 24 hours... snow totals are holding strong in the forecasts... for me they're say 3-6 today... 10-15 tonight and 16-18 tomorrow with additional inches on Wednesday. Clint you may get lucky as it is for north portions of the county they say. Barnes corners will probably get the 5+ foot :)
I love the winter. Luckily I got my dozer started yesterday. Either the ignition switch or solenoid. A simple arc at the solenoid with screw drive and she purrs like a kitten... bring on the snow!!!! And wow its pouring rain right now

Be careful out there for the next 48. We've got a low of -2 in the forecast with possible windchills of -35, as much as another foot of snow by tomorrow night. Back to 40 by Saturday, but nasty for the short term! Pa, I'm with you on the HATE WINTER! L13

Just hoping it stays to the north like predicted. I can deal with the snow, but would rather not. Looks nice for a little ice or river time this weekend.
