Still 500!  Sorry folks, but the easier wading is appealing.
I hope the temps bumping up on Fri. and Sat. don't call for a big release.

Charlie I do not think it will.  We will be precip free after tonight and any snow that will come  does not have alot of moisture in it anyway.  Plenty more moisture came on Sunday and they still lowered.   Any fishers this weekend will have to really worry about the crowds with the nice weather and low water it could be a recipe for Columbus day like crowds due to the recent run of high water.  Also it is getting to that time that Brookfield will start doing the dance. Let too much water out and not enough for consistent winter flows  $$$$$$   so I think you will see them happy that the res is full and  the in equals the out more or less.   We saw that last spring when they tried to keep it up for last summer, but no one went up to the tug and accounted for that snow.   Dare I say I am starting to raise my threshold for water levels thinking it really was not that bad at 1k this weekend.  I had a place to cross with ease and even though I did not get any hits I know were the fish were.

What happened to deer season?  I have it from a  reliable source that 98.6% of hunters that enter the woods this Sat. will be successful in harvesting deer that average 9.2 points and 237.9 lbs. dressed. So all you lurkers take note and spread the word . DEER.  DEER. DEER.
1K won't really bother me, either Clint. 2k would make it very hard to get where I want to go. That seems pretty far fetched. Hoping Friday might have some open water.. Sat. will be o'dark and going long.

Heck if it gets them off the river they can come sit on my back porch and go to town.  Have 6 to 8 almost every night.  Will try to get up on Sat, but have not decided where???????  Have 3 spots in mind

Fichy, Who is this un-named source and where does he/she hunt the little brown buggers?  Meanwhile, have fun catching those 48", 32 pound steelhead my reliable source has been telling me about.

Gerry, this is the internet, so I believe everything on it, as it's vetted by pros of all kinds.  It was a YouTube video and  the report was from a bearded ,  fat guy in a red suit. He said to aim about  2 feet behind the blinking red light. It was snowing like a mother wherever he was, so I just assumed lake effect.  I usually see him in the mall after Thanksgiving, so he must get his deer early. Little kids say he's VERY reliable.
Good hunting. I won't say luck, because like most that  seriously hunt (and fish)  , you make your own.

Oh, him. I heard him ask some guy named Doc what's up. At least he was float fishing and not a F*&^%$#  snagger.  Still 500 and I bet every cartoon character and his brother will be on the upper river this weekend.  Hope HT kicks azz  and takes names tomorrow and gives us a good report.  With the flow and the weather, I'll take a little crowd. Can't really  blame people for wanting to hook a steelie.-

Float guys can snag just as stealthily as any other... but they are easy to pick from the crowds as they wear full blown cave man gear with bull horned head warmers :):):);)

Depends where you fish in Erie. Those little mile creeks and the project water on Walnut have them but when you get away from those areas there are "anglers"and few snaggers.
When I'm out there next week I'll have the fish cop on speed dial.they do respond if they can.

Weather was nice in Altmar - Pulaski today. Snow on ground, ice on the ponds. Only the ice lasted when I left at 3:30 pm.
Weather was cool, crisp and clear. Water and people were kind. Keep the flow at 500 , please :)

Nicey, Nice.   I may meet up with Charlie Saturday to hit at them.

I am (hopefully was)  having some boiler issues that I think I have figured out.  One zone was cutting in and out.   Seemed to be the  power head in the Zone valve that was not working correctly.  Luckily we do not heat our upstairs and I switched them out and it "seems" to be working now

So the river drops to 500 + runoff, and not one report of a fish?

Tough choice for tomorrow, 110 miles to the SR for ideal conditions, or 3 miles to the Genny, which is just about low enough to start fishing again, and full of fish from what my pinner friends say.

River going up to 900 on Sunday night and some hairy weather coming as well.  This could be end of season for me, my bones don't do well in the cold unless I've got lots of clothes on and I'm watching tip ups!

Re: Weather thread 2013/11/15 17:14:22 (permalink)
I swear by wunderground and try to stick with one forecast rather than multiple. The ten day on wunderground shows dry weather which I am in favor of for reasons other than fishing. So I don't see where the hairy weather is coming from... I'd assume that Brookfield under shot in that 2000- 500 drop down and is making up for it with the 900 flow increase...but hats off to them. They really did a superior job of handling the water that has come our way in the past month. Maybe 10 inches of rain in 4 weeks??? Flood potential was at a high risk and it never got to that point...

But mostly, hats off to tuna for making a death run and having a well deserved stellar day with double digit hook ups!!! You are da man tunes!!!! Wish I couldve joined ya.

And 3fan must be a happy man for prime plugging water in the near forecast. What a great board we have here
