"Seems like a thick band bombed brewerton, c-square through camden yesterday in to last night... some places got a couple feet..."

DB , I drove through it yesterday coming home.  It was like a wall right after the bridge.   Stopped just after Hastings.   From CSQ to Fulton 20 inches.   Here around 6 inches.

"Looks like the snow machine is getting into gear for Pulaski and area tonight,1 to 2 ft expected. Here in SE Penna. we are going to get a dusting."

PA, I heard 6 to 8 inches , but no one know with the lake effect machine.   Was up in town today and  most snow is gone.   Would really like to see it snow on the tug and such as long as it  stay's to the North and east of me.   Although I got my plow truck fixed and it is Oh so nice to move snow in a cab with heat If we did not get another flake this winter I wound not be sad.

Camden up through Florence, they probably didn't even notice that little bit of dust.  My friends in Florence say it is generally about a foot a day there.

Now that I'm 300 bucks lighter for a water pump and sundries, it is back to work tomorrow rather than "Go Fishing".  Beat having to have it done in Altmar, though!

Well at 5am this morning there was a foot plus on the ground here in pulaski... after cleaning the driveway pretty darn thoroughly, it wasn't easy 6 inches 45 minutes later!!! Clint I went south on 81 and once I pass the parish exit it was clear skies!!!

Andy we may have have gotten 3 inches that's it.  Going to wait till the PM to clean it in case it slips down here.  I had the day off so I slept in till 7:00.   I usually get up if I hear the plow go by at 5:30 so I can plow. Just saw the radar and it looks BRUTAL up there.  Glad I went up yesterday.

Yup,, nice dusting :)
Check out the radar, pretty impressive!
Should see some slush today, shelf and anchor ice starting to form with these temp's.
Good fresh "start" to our hopeful snow pack.
-
My biggest chore today is to go clean the snow off 2 drift boat canvas tops. That is if I can find them. I cant see more than 100 feet "clearly" out my home office window presently.  Plus "fill some empty space" - "write, edit and update" my fishing reports page.
Best Fish's,
Randy

Hey guys in the North country......more on the way!
Maybe another 2 ft before it's done tomorrow.
The sun is shining here and NO snow, but it's cold!
We could use some of that snow for our water table,so I hope we get some this winter.
Hey Randy, you're not out there in this "dusting" ?

Precip headed our way at weeks end.  Haven't heard any numbers but I know it won't be anything like what the Eastern Basin is getting right now.  Stoke the fire, relax with a hot cup of coffee and stay off the roads.  Be safe.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!
It's came on down to pay  me a visit.   Went to town to buy some parts  for a project .   It was clear when I left, when I came out of the snowmobile shop 20 minutes later over an inch on the car and coming down.   Took about 45 minutes to make it home the 6 miles.    Morons do not know how to drive.  After 3 close calls going into the ditch the guy in 2 cars up stops dead.   Car behind him PULLS UP NEXT TO HIM AND STOPS NEXT TO HIM AND STARTS TALKING TO HIM.   Now they are blocking both lanes in a white out.   Sure as hell  a truck coming west comes up and has to ditch it.  Did not stop , but  the local "redneck"  in the truck was storming  from the ditch and was pi$$ed.   In going buy I could see  snow caked on both of their windshield.   I cannot stress enough  the importance of good winter wipers.   I had about 50 yards of tough visibility, but never once felt I was in trouble as long as I went slow

Clint, i heard something this morning along the lines of an inch every 11 minutes!!! I cant wait to see how much there will be when i get back in to town this afternoon... how about when the wind picks up this evening... the drifts are gonna be insane... if ican i'll swing through altmar to see how much is there... so far though it seems like pulaski has been taking the hardest beating... man i cant wait til a slight warm speel hits in a few weeks to free up any slush in the lower river... i may be lucky enough to fish my favorite time of year in my favorite area with towering snow banks and potentials of large pink cheeked chromers!! I hope i get the chance... charlie, i know youre a snow shoe type yourself, would love to hook up with ya if you come in to town at all...

Hey PA,
Im wearing the skirt today. Its too cold on my bare legs and its tuff to walk in high heels in all this snow :)
-
It was funny earlier when the band pushed North a lil. I looked to the South over Oswego and could see almost blue sky. To the North, dark. Shortly after it all returned.

Just updated my site, if interested :)

Yup, same here.
North and South just cloudy out my window.
TV radar shows its all between Syracuse and Oswego presently @ 1:30.
The local weather station said it might do that.
Then return here shortly for the remainder of the day.
I better go shovel now, while I can still see :)
Best Fish's,
Randy

I got lazy (forgot where your orriginal post was) and thought I'd enjoy writing to myself (Fred), then my reply :)
Sneaky lil devil!
You found me out!

I especially liked the part about the guy cutting the line when he got tired of anglers tieing up the pool w/ a fish :) True story, from the good ol days :)

Weather underground reported 19 inches in pulaski at 9 am this morning... after that point it really started packing and right now theres about 20-24 inches of measureable snow. Cant imagine what the actual totalevent is...altmar seems to be along the same lines but the road walls are much higher from the plows.. some specific areas still getting hit pretty good

A friend posted a pic on face book with a ruler in the snow at 9am this morning.  There was 26".   She said it was almost 3 feet this afternoon.  She is from orwell, richland area.   Another friend in Redfield said she was over 3 feet too.
We may have gotten a tad over a foot at about 12  south Pulaski

Re:Weather thread 2013/01/23 07:16:12 (permalink)
One of the weather guys around here had a chart up Sunday night.  The colder it is the more snow out of the same amount of water.  So the old 1" of rain yields 10" of snow is true at just below freezing, but at 5°F the same inch of rain makes 22" of snow.  The only consolation when you are shoveling however is that you move a lot more! A Lb of feathers weighs the same as a lb of lead.  Good luck with it guys, our 20+" failed to materialize, fine with me when it comes to driving into the workplace.

Re:Weather thread 2013/01/23 08:08:10 (permalink)
Lucky, i like the lead vs feathers analogy... back in college i took a meteorology course and the professor who was a meteorologist claimed that there is no accurate comparison with snow vs rain due to warmer air holding more moisture and cold air holding less... kinda makes sense as a 1 inch rain storm in the summer when its 80 degrees would be incomparable once placed in a sub freezing climate due to lower dew point and relative humidity...although it would be the same amount of moisture, in theory it would be more wide spread and not nearly as dense due to the drier air...he engraved it in our heads that there was no comparison... he often talked about lake effect as well...

So far we have less than a foot from this event.
About 11 or 11 1/2 inches less.
Thank you west winds.
