dimebrite2 Rt, not to steal clints spotlight :) But there's still about 50% of leaves overall left. Some areas bare...some still holding. I'd give it til next weekend and it should be good to go.
Had to work today. What he said, some of the trees are bare and some 3/4 full. I agree 50% are on the ground

Good to see the water has gone up 150 cfs or so. Sweep some of the bank leave out while the weekend "fishers" are in town. Maybe the leaves won't be as bad for me and possibly lucky Tues.

Windy all yesterday and pretty good rain last night. The sun is out now, but still pretty windy. I would say I may have to amend my numbers from yesterday soon

Oh yeah clint, actually smelled a touch of winter last night.... woke up to heavy rain this morning and a thick band of lake effect has been staggering through all day so far... twobob, the leaves should get swept away pretty good.... I'd love to see a 750-1000 release....its been too long. Mostly to clear the salmon rippers from ripping the early steelies like they have been the past few years.... keep dancing jack!!!!

Don't get to crazy Jack . You might want to slow it down to a waltz . Looks like a lot of rain in the forecast the next 8 days straight . Wouldn't mind a nice 500-750 flow myself.

Pville was showing 550+ this morning. Can we keep that thru Wed so no more bank leaves get swepy in til I am thru for the week. Swing with the water column full of leaves is torture. Don't make me nymph fish or I swear I'll turn this steelhead season around right now.

Can't we just shoot the steel rippers? I won't tell.... You kinda ruined my day mentioning that, Dime. Slow dance is right, Jack- steady, but not over 1,000 the week of the 28th.

I'm drinking bud tonight bud... crack another blue boy for me.... oops I mean orange..lol
The other day I was at a spot I like a lot(not fishing). Its a well known spot but the productivity is not consistent and weather/water dependant to the max... anyway, two gentlemen approached me and asked me the name of the waterway and asked if fish ran it. I replied fish run any trib that empties in to the lake. I told them it was hard to hit due to water levels and left it at that. Part of me thought I shouldve given more info but I refrained... was not cold to the guys at all, but I felt it was unnecessary to give it all the way. Hopefully they'll look in to it to find out what it can or can't produce...as it is a year round fishery. But trial and error is what works the best in my book. And I'd rather fish water with less fish over fishing water that's stacked but pressured... sometimes think I'd take river smallies over the mighty lake run salmonioids... oh well...
Wait a second, this is the weather thread, why am I posting this crap here!!!lol

How's everything holding up i.e. visibility or should I say are thing starting to stain/turn to chocolate milk, looks like it could be a soaker the next 5 days. Of course it starts once I go up. Everyone can stop the rain dance, sporadic dancing is acceptable as passing showers could potentially keep the numbers low and that's perfectly fine with me. Any insight appreciated these weathermen/women don't have a clue. I checked 4 different reports and essentially got 4 different answers.

Rain on and off all day, but not too hard. Flows to 1200 in 4 minutes or so. Leaf hatch is still going, but bearable. This new flow of probably around 14 to 1500 will clean everything out, including crowds as Saturday starts gun Hunting season. Don't mind 1k too much, but 1500 will probably keep me out this weekend.

1500 IS A BEAR FOR ME ALSO. Not that I won't fish it but you have to pick your spot carefully. Usually dry ground at 400. Lots more water but less water I can fish with my chosen method.

I've found a few spots that fish well (sometimes) to 2,000 that are still safe.2b is right about 400 and dry. Thanks for the continued weather update. I may go Sunday - depends on my mood, now. Whether I want to drop some coin in the dues envelope.

Don't understand the 400 and dry comment...
Funny to see the forecasts from a week ago were spot on... snow was barreling on 81 this morning between mexico and parish... lake effect advisory for tonight.
If rain persists at this point we could see a 2000 or more release. The ground is saturated and any bit of rain will just fill the res more and make the river and tribs runoff.. be safe out there guys. My lame azz is stuck working around the clock still

Jack hate to say it, but wunderground is saying close to an inch of rain today... and rain most of the next days mixxed with snow. If they're right with their forecast as they've been right on for the past few days, it could get ugly. I'll be shocked if we hit the forecasted 46 today... still in the high 30's

what I meant by 400 dry ground is that at 2000 the best fishing(the way I like to fish) is in places that had little or no water at 400cfs. The fish will always gravitate to the same kind of water. The same depth, structure breaks, current in holding water and the same kinds of seams when moving. Nothing changes except the place that meets those requirements is not where it was at 2000 I know you know this. I was being cryptic Sometimes I'm too lazy to go into details of what I mean. And then other times I just don't know what I'm talking about.

I understood it. There's a few pools where nice seams develop at high water, where it was just tough walking at 400. Or frog water that suddenly has a current and feeding lanes. To belabor the point, what was dry , or nearly so, becomes wade fishing. I had a banner day once at 2,000+, and even helped the Pres. of the LI chapter of TU land his first steel .He was really depressed at the conditions after a 7 hr. drive, but went home happy. He fumbled his camera into the water, besides, and I sent him a pic via e-mail. I haven't found too many choices, I'm sure you have a bunch 2b. I've read Dime's method of fishing right off the bank in high water, I haven't been able to figure that out , being a fly snob and all. Maybe ,since I don't know what I'm doing and have little experience on the SR, I get lucky once in awhile. Then there's times when I ain't..... If it stays below 2k , I'll go anyway.

Gotcha 2b...
Fichy, I managed to squeeze out a spot this past late September with my son where we fished from the bank and did well on Chinook and coho..... guys above and below were standing out further than we were casting and this was 335 cfs ;) just above this unmentioned spot even in 335 you can cast from the bank with fly or spin and slam the steel... how about the rocks above the 52 bridge in the fly stretch? Or the south bank below the bridge in various spots??? Plenty of areas on many of the tribs that can be targeted while standings on bank even in lower water. High water even more so. Remember too, i was a fly only snob til just a few years ago :)
Fichy, for a guy who claims he knows nothing you sure do put a pounding on those steelies though bud... always enjoy your posts and pics :)
