Good luck Rich- may be a great time for Browns. All these Steel reports from the Sr, smack dab in the middle of drop back season, tell ya that the boat is the best place to be.

Thanks Trev. The pics and reports from the bt trollers have been good for almost a month now . Dirty water line and 15-20 fow. While I'd love to head out , it's a given to fish my back yard for ocean run record breaking bass. When they are gone , so am I . We were trying for bait today at the mighty Hudson but no luck yet . Fish are around and will bust wide open soon . More pics coming soon from this weekend

HT- I just read a report that the lower bay is stacked with big stripers. The largest landed today was 28 lbs with some bigger fish broken off. This weeks warmer weather should make things start to pop up your way. Good luck.

No time to fish for me. Wanted to get the outdoor work done before the balk flies come out. Got the fence built and we are ready to let the cows out next week. Also got the yard cleared up and re seeded in the spots torn up from the plow. All of that and we also had a new calf born this morning too.

Weather was great all weekend. Boat ran awesome but a huge operator error on way in today. Ran right over a rock jetty on way into dock . Hopefully it's still floating when I get there tomorrow afternoon. Fishing was poor, some stripers were caught but none from me . Water temperature went from 45 yesterday morning to 49 today. Sleeping on the boat was where it's at . I will be out everyday after work this week and come Friday, it's game on for 7 days and nights straight :)

Everything is fine . Spent 3 hrs on a great drift after work and another zip . Lots boats out every day now . Water temperature was 51 today. We marked no bait but they are around and in the creek at Marina. No netting in creek and jiggin them there just don't work. Things are going to pop wide open this week . Hope next week it's silly with fish and get more pics then water and boats . Might take tomorrow off from fishing if the wind kicks up in the 20 mph . Have fun and tell those cows to stop making babies, lol. Humm on the other hand , its food for the table:)

Spent the after work hrs sitting on a rocking boat . Seas were to rough to even try fishing in the channel. Did see - stoolie up some bait from shore . Shore anglers did well , better then boaters today. Tomorrows looks like it might be the day :). Either way , the Daisy will be all out fishing

Had a free bote ryde with Yankee Angler on Tues. Warm but windy at times. Bright sun with a few clouds. Fished some gravel. Had at least 4 freshish hens digging. There are still fish out there but not many.

First year in over 30 missing Spring Steel. Glad some are enjoying what must be a struggle similar to some of the 'old days'. 'Old timers' have been here before lol. Go getum 2B. Stocked trout here at home are keeping my ultra lite with #8 hooks and garden worms very busy. Turkey right around the corner too. ( am already missing my place by the SR).

agreed- heck just the cost of going up every couple of weeks to mow with a 600 mile round trip was getting bothersome.

The weather has been pretty decent but the wind yesterday was brutal on the water. Sorry for not checking in . I am on the water everyday, staying on the boat and been whooped.. We are bringing some nice stripers on board but again, no real time to post pics. Back at it again tomorrow. Hope everyone is doing well

Ok so I finally took a day off the water after 2 weeks straight... WHEW !!! My hands are like sandpaper with these nagging cuts on every single finger from fish and hooks.. They all hurt like heck and just wont heal no matter how much lotion I use daily.. My kid calls me Captain Ron , from the Movie.. Now lets get to the Fishing, err and weather.. While the weather started out fantastic 2 weeks ago, it steadily degraded and got windy, windy and windy.. Last tues in the pouring rain we even ran the Buddy heater on the boat ... UNTIL YESTERDAY , when the weather turned out FANTASTIC !! In the beginning, getting bait (herring) started out easy and we started catching Linesiders.. THEN it was like a switch was thrown and we couldn't catch bait to save our azz.. No bait means NO Stripers.. We ended up have to make the 12 mile run upstream to jig bait then run back down to our fishing grounds.. Fishing up there was pretty fruitless because with thousands of bait in the water, your lone herring was a shot in the dark at catching the Linesider. In the End it all paid off , especially yesterday when the fishing was on fire .. So as things are right now, I'd say its PEAK all this week and then the bite will shut right down as they begin to spawn . Once they spawn, they drop back to the sea faster the a fall steelhead on a tight line.. I will be back at things in a part time mode (after work) and weekends for another 2 weeks and then Pull the Daisy from the Mighty Hudson. Sure HOPE this rain this week doesn't turn her into the Mighty Muddy .. Here are just a few pic's that came over the gunnel of the Mae :)
