How long does it take..........

for water levels to reach certain parts of the river when they change flow. It was supposed to go down at 9:00.   As of 10:00 update it was still at 900 .  As of the 11:00 update water was at 900,   11:15 to 878.   So is it 2 hours give or take to Pineville???     Does anyone know how long to reach lets say Altmar, Pineville, Pulaski,   Lake?

3fan is right on the money. Clint if you go to the waterline website for the salmon river light house hill dam... in the second paragraph under the published flowcast they have approximate times for specific areas of the river in which the flow will be affected

    Pretty much right on 3fan.
I know in the age of daily flow change they started generating at 8 o'clock and it hit the clam shack around 11 and the schoolbus between  1 and 2.
We used to fish the trestle as it rose and then fly down river and fish as the first flush hit and the bite exploded with it.

Yesterday just above Ellis Cove it started to drop at exactly 10:30.
It would normally drop there around 9:30-45 with a 9am drop time at the dam.

From the water release forecast website.
    -
Any changes to this schedule are normally made by 3:00 PM Daily. One or more flow increases may occur during this forecast period. Here is about how long it will take after a flow increase at the power plant for fast rising waters and swift currents to reach the following places downstream.. ALTMAR - 30 minutes; PINEVILLE - 1 hour and 40 minutes; RT 81 - 2 hours and 50 minutes; Blackhole - 3 hours and 30 minutes

Heard a rumor yesterday from a well respected and informed guide.
(Its only a rumor as I have not heard it directly from those incharge of water release managment)
He said there were some new folks helping out with the water releases. He also said they were going to try to manage the water better and release it or cut it back more evenly, instead of dumping it all at once or cutting a higher flow immediatly down to a trickle.

Heavy rains in the forecast, so we may see it go back up shortly? Have not heard what the Rez's look like.
