The association is in it's beginning stages The first meeting is to figure out what the goals etc are. I feel we need a voice at the pfbc. Lots of illegal charter operations going on right under the pfbc nose at walnut creek The big tony illegal net incident etc. Misappropriated lake erie stamp money Safe harbor for modern boats at walnut creek They are just my thoughts hopefully the other Captains will voice there concerns.

Some great ideas, perhaps after you get it going you could offer "Associate Memberships" for those of us that support your cause but aren't captains or mates. I'm sure there are lots of us that would offer a hand... Any real upgrade at the Nut is probably not economically feasible. Their limit to 23' boats is a stretch as it is and it would take massive upgrades to fix that problem. I had a few meetings with a couple of state reps a few years ago about the need for a better facility in PA, not much interest on their part. Hopefully your organization can change that...

Illegal operation is not usually just gas money. If the boat uses say 100.00 in fuel you have 3 people they give you more than your expenses it may be considered for hire. That is not what I consider illegal There are mutiple boats taking passenger for hire. That are not licensed. The stamp that was sold to the boaters by pfbc was a steelhead stream stamp only. They are stealing our money in my opinion for the streams. Dont get me wrong a lot of stream guys use the tribs but i run approximately 120 trips per year That is 600 stamps per year over the life of the program adds up to a lot of money just from my business. As i said before the association is in its infancy stage Hopefully lots of good ideas and maybe we can get something Done.. Paul and Mike Your are welcome to join and attend as well as any other licensed captain and mate.

If moose is getting 265 gal of fuel ( must be a h*ll of a big boat ), for $500. There's something shady besides illegal chartering going on at the dock.

I try to fill up before the fuel gauge hit E... Intake tubes on my diesel tanks are higher then normal ..so I have about 120 gallons of usable fuel... And it's only 25ft. long .. Smell your finger chucker if somethimg stinks.. The laws are there to protect a people.. If your paying for a fishing trip from non lisenced charter captain... Your really taking a chance with your life ..IMO.. Every Charter Capt. boat I've been on ....They have there **** together.. MM

I think that Steelhead stream stamp pays for some of those Steelhead you run charters for. Yet your getting short changed.

Bings Let me make it clear for you lets say they collected 1,000,000.00 998,000 has gone for stream access improvement etc 2,000.00 has gone for the boaters that pay a large portion of the stamp money now keep in mind those numbers are just ficticious. Understand that the stamp was created by the stream fishing groups and is funded largely by the boaters. I just want our fare share of the money. as far as the steelhead slugs we have here in lake erie i say stock browns and coho and get rid of the rubber trout. I hope that makes sense of it.

What's a 'steelhead stream stamp'??? Most people that come out on my boat end up buying a trout and Erie stamp. Good luck with your club guys, a safe harbor at walnut or elk would be awesome!

Bigger problem; where are the fishermen hiring a charter? Recession has hit this group hard with the poor economy and jobs leaving the area. People are doing whatever it takes to save money. IMHO Stocking numbers through out the state will be reduced throughout the state due to feds budget problems. I feel there will be little if any spending on projects in 2013. Watch the roads in January, that will tell of the times ahead.

Ever been to Walnut launch (or Lampe marina, any of the bay launches or North East marina) on Saturday (or any day of the week) from June until October? He's a charter captain. Every trip, sometimes twice a day, will consist of 2 to 6 customers, most of them out of towners buying a lake Erie and trout stamps. Multiply that by all the other charters, then add recreational boaters and their riders for an entire spring, summer and fall.

No, you didn't read it right. One of the issues at hand is appropriating more money from the Erie Stamp for boater access/improvements. There is no denying that a huge amount of revenue is generated from offshore fishing. Ironhed edit: Sorry Bogey, my reply was intended to the previous poster, not yourself. You beat me to it.
