12/9/12 A tough day fishing..............

Is better than a good day at work.  Met Charlie and his wife for a day of fishing.   Started down from the trestle pool and worked up without a bite.  Saw 1 foul hooked  and one taken by  drift boat plugging.   Worked in Altmar down to the schoolhouse without a bite, but a least  a few were taken by spinners on bags.   Saw 2 guys across from us with these  telescoping poles looked like they went from 15 feet to 3 feet.     Ended in the LFZ and that place was pretty empty.   Not much action there either.   Charlie and I would have ended the day with a huge 0 for but in the last 1/2 hour before dark I got 1 on and he got 2 on.  Don't know if they were still turned off by the flow and the  water temps dropping,  but it was  a tough go of it all around, especially for fly guys.  Seems like they were hitting bags a bit better.   The increased flow freed up a TON of leaves and it was almost like fishing in   October again,  at least they gave some action every now and then  .
Charlie,  good luck tomorrow, hope you get your rock and many to the bank.

IMHO leaves floating in the water put the fish away quick.  Can still get lucky with good numbers around but when your working for them even on a good day leaves can make life miserable.

According to the weather site there was a raw ENE wind, that's not a good thing for fishing.Tomorrow the wind is supposed to switch to the SW,chances are that will turn it around for Charlie and others in general.
I guess watching football next to a warm toasty fireplace was a good thing today

Didn't turn. Morning was east and slower than death. Left by 11. Two more on but not to the bank, Clint. Over where the pinners and spin guys   were fishing in the Barrel.  Was a great pleasure fishing with you. I enjoyed myself, despite the slow going. Thanks!

Charlie great fishing with you too.   We'll keep hittin it until we have a good day.   I will have to say your day probably was still better than mine.  Work all day dealing with crap , come home, and taping up the rest of the sheetrock tonight.

PS I checked that other site and sure enough I said some group had like 58 hook  ups on Sunday,  near the bridge.

    Thanks for the reports guys.
A bad report is better than no report at all.
    Sorry it was slow.
Glad it never happens to me!
They tell me it makes the next multifish day that much ssweeter and that 15 pounder fight that much harder next trip,
