My trip to the Cortland Outlet store.

What I got:
4 spools of Cortland Precision 2 tippet material  in 4, 6, 6.6 and 10 lb test
3 spools of Mylar tinsel
2 spools of wire red and green
2 packages of synthetic hackel in Orange   (bought same stuff at all seasons for $3.00 a bag)
2 packages of long Antron fibers  (perfect stuff for egg veil)
1 packages of estaz an orange brown "eggy" color
2  packages of dubbing in lite blue and dark blue.
2 bags of estaz  pink and blue ,   these were at full price at $2.95   got the as they were a little different colors than I have seen here.
Grand total of  $18 and change.
Had a talk with the store manager Rich who is a really good guy and super helpful.   He actually talked me out of buying a reel until I tried it on my pole and told me to go to Pineville as they should have them there.
Here is the skinny on what is going on with Cortland.  A group of investors has bought the company and it is in a transition stage.  They will stop making a few things and add a few more, switch suppliers on things ect.   Alot of production at the plant has stopped during this transition stage.  He said they are having some issues replacing warranty poles due to not having any blanks.   Hope it is not the case, but this leads me to believe they may be switching to "cheaper" manufacturers for many things such as pole blanks.  He also said in the next month or so they will be having a closeout sale on  materials, reels and poles when they switch some stuff out and discontinue other stuff.   He took my e mail and said he will let me know when the sale comes up.

That's a shame to hear about the company selling, Clint. I have a couple of favorite trout rods I bought in the late  80's form a small company in Vt. called Diamondback. Cortland bought them out around 2000 or so and still carried some blanks they brought over from  the factory in Stowe, Vermont.  A friend broke a tip on one of the rods playing around with it foolishly, and I was able to contact the rod shop and get them to dig out a new one for me.  That's gone by the wayside.  My first decent fly  rod was a Cortland and I bought it in  '69 with lawn mowing money.
I hope they survive in some form or other, I know when I talked to the guys in the rod shop, they said there jobs were now repair work only and production was going  overseas. Like Temple Fork, if you break a rod, there'll be no repair, just replace.  Doesn't help for fixing old, discontinued favorites.  I'll have to visit there someday, always wanted to, sounds like a great place to shop for materials.

It is right off Exit 11 in Cortland.  Kind of in the middle of a little mall.  It is in different location than the old store.  Only open to 5pm too
