Cloudy day on the river
We'll a small group of us hit the river on Thursday and spent the day casting to "clouds" of salmon. We fished near rt 81 and saw salmon everywhere. By about noon time the coho's showed up and even a few steelhead. Everyone battled fish and by 4pm called it quits due to fatigue. Our crew of six kept 3 kings and 3 coho, released a bunch of kings. Did stop by at Pineville and watched about 50 fish in 5 minutes go by. And finally took my first salmon river plunge which bruised the knee pretty good. Oh well im guaranteed at least once a year a swim with the fishes.

Ouch. I hope you are okay. I saw an oldtimer fall like a tree last week at DSR. He didn't have time to break his fall. Hat, glasses, rod went flying. Thought I was going to have to cross the river to render aid. Thank God he was alright.

Yeah im fine Trout, built like a brick sh*thouse. I also saw this guy take a dunking yesterday and lost his regular glasses. I also got in a fight with this guy that thought since I moved away to land a fish he could move in and take over, even though we got there by flashlight and he showed up two hours later. I explained to him that if I moved away to FISH another spot then he could have it. But when he told my wife to keep her nose outt've it, anger level shot up two fold. He heeded the 5 sec warning before he got 4 250+lbers raining on him. But the river also dealt justice as he was stalking he took an over the head dunking. Love this circus.

It's hard not to boil over, and I only weigh 190. Glad you had a good time and the fishing was outstanding. I hope I do half as well. Charlie

I had a guy using spinning gear saw my fly line in half last week at DSR. As I was playing a fish running downstream and the other guy hooks a fish that bolts under my line. As I worked my way down his fish decides to run straight across the pool and rather than drop his rod tip to stay under me the other guy lifts up and saws my line in two. I just grinned and walked away. A perfectly good sink tip ruined.

Hey, 2bob, I'm as tall as I need to be. That was kind of insulting. Charlie

wasn't meant to be un any way insulting. lust that in pics you don'y appear bulky but never appeared tall overly either. 190 puts you in the heaveyweight division. from pics i had guessed 5'10" 175 . bulked up middle weight. think hands of stone in his later fights. if you are trying to start a fight i have to say no mas no mas. don't translate that for tuna it will drive him crazy cause he don't hablos no espania! Had the same thing happen to me with my fly line on Tue at the DSR. Spinning line from across the stream cut about 15' off the front of my floating fly line. We both had fish on, really couldn't be avoided unless I just let out slack, which I will do next time. Also took my first river swim of the season when crossing the river by the Joss hole and a group of salmon came up and knock me down in mid step. Rolled around awhile in the rapids, thank god it wasn't a higher flow of water. Epic fishing day.

I weigh in at 240lbs but the doctor doesn't know where it all is. Guess firefighting and logging turned me into an animal. Anyway some damage occured when I fell I guess, my back is killing me so bad I have chest pain. Still have to get deer stands ready and the wife wants to take the wee ones up to play with all the kings. So I guess I dope up and deal with it. Anyone know of how the run is doing in DSR today?

Back pain is one thing, chest pain is another, different ballgame. Better to be safe than sorry call your doctor immediately.
